🌎 CHRONICLES OF THE REMOTE WORKSPACE
Episode22: Should Your Employer Pay for Your Home Office?
If a company hires you to work remotely, should it contribute to the cost of your home office?
Think about it for a second 🤔
You're using your electricity, Your internet, your personal workspace and Sometimes, your own equipment. And if you're working from Nigeria, you know that keeping a reliable internet connection and power supply isn't always as simple as plugging in a laptop.
Yet some companies advertise remote positions as though working from home costs absolutely nothing.
Of course, arrangements differ.
Some employers provide equipment, stipends, or reimbursements while others clearly state that employees are responsible for their own setup.
A remote job can still be worthwhile without every expense being covered, but here's my question:
If remote work reduces certain costs for an employer, is it fair for the employee to carry all the costs of making that work possible?
Should companies provide internet allowances, electricity stipends, or equipment?
Or is that simply part of choosing to work remotely?
Let's hear both sides. 👀

Who are these Bolt drivers that actually drive with AC while others will tell you they won’t put it on? 🤷♀️
See how this man told me he doesn’t drive his passengers without AC. 😳
And me that desperately needed the AC because of my makeup? Omo, see the way I was just smiling throughout the ride. 😂
God bless this man abeg!
