a reminder, most of what you see is meant to manipulate you for financial gain.
for example, the AI panic theme that showed up this week was a planned PR campaign for a Netflix documentary.
then there was Steven Spielberg’s 'Disclosure Day' that was proceeded by the alien / UAP marketing campaign that included major players inciting panic on that topic.
it just keeps happening because people are just that unaware and social media is designed for quick hits, not long form informational posts.
you see a headline, a lede or a short form post and you bite. we all do this because it is human nature.
don't be a mark.
🚨 1/ Watch this AI Doomer trailer. Then read the timeline.
Netflix drops “The AI Apocaloptimist Doc” tomorrow — Sept 15 — to 260+ million subscribers.
This film took 3 years to make. It premieres 12 days after Sanders–Casar, 7 days after the Anthropic “whistleblower,” 3 days after Amodei’s “Pace the Frontier.”
That’s not a coincidence. That’s a launch. 🧵👇
H/t @TheRoyalGrift for the scoop.
This is very non-good.
Websites using PHP are being pulled offline worldwide.
PHP is the connective tissue of millions of websites and this vulnerability and subsequent proof of concept hack has people scrambling. Myself included.
Effective Immediately, all organizations using PHP for their systems are advised to be prepared for an update addressing two critical vulnerabilities. PHP is widely used for web applications. These vulnerabilities often provide a direct path to the server's file system or database. If an immediate update is not feasible, it is recommend that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. NSA will follow up shortly with more specific guidance.

This is going to suck for some older sites that cannot take the jump to 8.2. Old WP sites that are stuck on legacy Elementor themes are going to be hosed.
TP-Link just dropped a $1 billion letter of intent with Key Tronic to assemble Wi-Fi routers in Corinth, Mississippi, a hard push to get Wi-Fi 8 into United States homes after the FCC freeze. The Department of Commerce has been in this since the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party flagged China roots, alleged data paths, and hardware sold through the Army and Air Force Exchange and the Navy Exchange. Amazon, Asus, and Netgear already have conditional FCC approvals. Archer 8 Ultra preorders went live in the United Kingdom, Germany, and Australia. The United States was left off. Vietnam assembly is still the current path, and Florida, Montana, Iowa, and Nebraska sued over security claims and China ties. TP-Link denies China government control and is pitching factory jobs. TP-Link reportedly holds 65 percent of the United States consumer router market, and its Wi-Fi 8 routers still can't be sold here.

I made what appears to be a mistake.
This morning I was prompted to "unify" my @x, @grok and @bot accounts. I tried it. I mean, that is what I do... I do tech things and post about them.
Bad idea. Opening Grok Bot now won't let me get past an upgrade prompt on the app.
My advice, don't do it.
Where is @nikitabier when we need him? Maybe @benjitaylor?
I see what I did. Sigh. So my plus subscription doesn't give me grok bot access? Wha? So my X plus account that used to give me bot access now isn't enough to use it. I think I just got trapped into paying more per month so I can have my bots back. Is that about right there @grok?

A lot is now being explained
The BBC has betrayed the British public
Shame on them !
Civil servants were embedded inside the BBC newsroom working on coverage of politically sensitive subjects including immigration, small boats and Covid.
And we are supposed to believe nobody saw an obvious problem with this? We all knew the BBC was a voice box for the government. Now we have the evidence.
We were always assured that our concerns about grand conspiracies were just nonsense. Those people believed what the conspirators taught them. We saw through it.
A handful of Wikipedia editors have rewritten the story of Covid’s origins to depict ‘lab leak’ as a racist conspiracy — despite the FBI, CIA, and leading scientists all stating they believe the virus likely came from a lab.
Here’s how they buried the truth @AshleyRindsberg👇
Staples got hacked by a China crime ring that minted millions in gift cards and then went on a shopping spree across the United States. Homeland Security Investigations learned in October 2023 that more than 15,000 cards worth over $5 million went out through Staples' gift-card partner Blackhawk Network after crooks reached Staples' internal support system from the public internet, pulled the app's memory, and hijacked live support sessions. They burned the cards at Target, Sephora, and Lowe's. About 4,630 cards cashed for roughly $425,000. The Department of Justice says the wider operation moved more than $100 million and shipped electronics back to China. Three Chinese nationals already got prison time. Staples did not comment. Treat gift cards like cash, because the people stealing them already do. How many other retail systems are this wide open?

Brandon Stirrup, who says he has spent more than 10 years at Xbox and Microsoft, is calling out the gaming industry for pretending it isn’t using AI.
“If I’m Fired Tomorrow It Will Be Because I Told You The Truth That Nobody Wants You To Know”
He says gaming is “the only industry pretending to not use AI” and that developers need to accept AI as part of the future.
He also claims that games can already be created with simple prompts, including custom games tailored to what players want.
Stirrup says he’s willing to take the backlash for speaking openly about it, even saying he could be fired for telling people what “nobody wants you to know.”
“We use AI, just as all companies do in 2026.”
Hackers got into supermarket fridge controllers that were left on the open internet. In France, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Germany, and Belgium, that meant fires and losses that may run tens or hundreds of millions of euros. The exposed controllers came from Danfoss and Copeland, with default logins and old firmware. Copeland later confirmed a vulnerability in discontinued, end-of-life units. Security firm Pen Test Partners said the fix was to take the controller off the open internet, put remote access behind a VPN, let in only approved addresses, change known passwords, and patch. Security firm Claroty published that warning last October. The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency repeated it in February. Nobody has claimed the hack. Ars says it could be vandalism or a nation-state looking to cause disruption. US grocery and cold-storage shops still running leftover contractor gear on a public address are exposed to the same thing. Coming soon to a supermarket near you in the USA.

Anybody in the US still running this leftover kit on a public address?
