Q: Why have thousands of people sent rape and death threats to the world's bestselling children's author?
A: Because a political movement brainwashed an army of troubled children into believing that chemically castrating and dismembering themselves was their sole hope of becoming their true selves and told them that anyone who abridge the right of children to access these cult rituals was a genocidal fascist against whom any reprisal was justified.
Threats of violence, comparisons to Nazis, talk of genocide, suicidality as coercive control.
All over a Florida bill that would ban the chemical castration and mutilation of children via "sex-reassignment" procedures.
This is mass psychosis. xitter.cf/AmberJoCooper/status/1…
Thank you @jk_rowling for so eloquently articulating the fracture in a relationship when belief attempts to trump reality. I’ve not had personal death threats but 20 plus year friendships are gone. I’m a parent- in some eyes I’m wrong for not capitulating to trans ID.
I'm seeing quite a bit of comment about this, so I want to make a couple of points.
I'm not owed eternal agreement from any actor who once played a character I created. The idea is as ludicrous as me checking with the boss I had when I was twenty-one for what opinions I should hold these days.
Emma Watson and her co-stars have every right to embrace gender identity ideology. Such beliefs are legally protected, and I wouldn't want to see any of them threatened with loss of work, or violence, or death, because of them.
However, Emma and Dan in particular have both made it clear over the last few years that they think our former professional association gives them a particular right - nay, obligation - to critique me and my views in public. Years after they finished acting in Potter, they continue to assume the role of de facto spokespeople for the world I created.
When you've known people since they were ten years old it's hard to shake a certain protectiveness. Until quite recently, I hadn't managed to throw off the memory of children who needed to be gently coaxed through their dialogue in a big scary film studio. For the past few years, I've repeatedly declined invitations from journalists to comment on Emma specifically, most notably on the Witch Trials of JK Rowling. Ironically, I told the producers that I didn't want her to be hounded as the result of anything I said.
The television presenter in the attached clip highlights Emma's 'all witches' speech, and in truth, that was a turning point for me, but it had a postscript that hurt far more than the speech itself. Emma asked someone to pass on a handwritten note from her to me, which contained the single sentence 'I'm so sorry for what you're going through' (she has my phone number). This was back when the death, rape and torture threats against me were at their peak, at a time when my personal security measures had had to be tightened considerably and I was constantly worried for my family's safety. Emma had just publicly poured more petrol on the flames, yet thought a one line expression of concern from her would reassure me of her fundamental sympathy and kindness.
Like other people who've never experienced adult life uncushioned by wealth and fame, Emma has so little experience of real life she's ignorant of how ignorant she is. She'll never need a homeless shelter. She's never going to be placed on a mixed sex public hospital ward. I'd be astounded if she's been in a high street changing room since childhood. Her 'public bathroom' is single occupancy and comes with a security man standing guard outside the door. Has she had to strip off in a newly mixed-sex changing room at a council-run swimming pool? Is she ever likely to need a state-run rape crisis centre that refuses to guarantee an all-female service? To find herself sharing a prison cell with a male rapist who's identified into the women's prison?
I wasn't a multimillionaire at fourteen. I lived in poverty while writing the book that made Emma famous. I therefore understand from my own life experience what the trashing of women's rights in which Emma has so enthusiastically participated means to women and girls without her privileges.
The greatest irony here is that, had Emma not decided in her most recent interview to declare that she loves and treasures me - a change of tack I suspect she's adopted because she's noticed full-throated condemnation of me is no longer quite as fashionable as it was - I might never have been this honest.
Adults can't expect to cosy up to an activist movement that regularly calls for a friend's assassination, then assert their right to the former friend's love, as though the friend was in fact their mother. Emma is rightly free to disagree with me and indeed to discuss her feelings about me in public - but I have the same right, and I've finally decided to exercise it.

🚨THIS is what @10DowningStreet @DHSCgovuk should be prioritising - a public inquiry to pull the #NHS back from its near total capture by gender ideology.
❌ NOT introducing amateur & unnecessary #ConversionPractices criminal legislation which will only reinforce that capture.
“There urgently needs to be an investigation of why every system that should have protected children, young people, & indeed young adults has failed,” Baroness Hilary Cass told The Sunday Times".
@UKLabour eventually caught up that we were right about Self-ID being incompatible with single-sex provision, the scandal at GIDS etc.
It will possibly catch up soon that we're also right about the harms of the CP Ban Bill & the need to tackle transactivist/Stonewall ideological capture of the NHS, govt & public bodies...
But hell's teeth, it's hard work...

There’s a HRT shortage in the UK 🇬🇧
Women are once again left hunting pharmacies for HRT while the same estradiol is handed out so men can grow tits and pretend they’re women. Real women’s hot flushes, bone density and sleep come second to male entitlement. Every. Single. Time.

If you don't know what the Conversion Practices bill is about, please please watch this. It purports to ban "abuse" but in fact it will criminalise loving parents seeking to protect unhappy children from lifelong harm. It's extraordinarily serious.
Due to popular demand we've published our first #BattleFest full debate early:

The public believe that the medical professions know what they are doing . Nothing could be further from the truth. @BBC @scotgov @UKGovScotland you promoted this through schools. How many have you harmed?

Why did I blow the whistle?
Because these interventions don’t work. Period.
How do I know this?
Because our patients told us so.
Because in the privacy of the doctor’s office, where no therapist is judging, where no teacher who changed their name is listening- they knew.
They knew their health was worsening, they were tired, still sad, still lost, their labs were worsening.
Sometimes they knew in a matter of months, sometimes years later. But they knew.
Thank you @jk_rowling . The institutions which may still be operating under the inclusion by exclusion are universities run by the very people you mention. The flag flying is obnoxious. Pride progress flag is celebrated - yet suffragette excluded. We must get back to reality
I wrote a new piece about women’s rights and whether or not I want trans people dead. (Spoiler: I don’t)👇

Superb advocate for women and girls, UN special Rapporteur Reem Alsalem says she opposes bans on conversion therapies and "would support and welcome the repeal or reconsideration of any laws on gender identity self-declaration...It is important to note that international law and global state practice also do not support the notion that gender identity self-declaration is a right...Contrary to what some, including unfortunately ‘human rights’ experts, may claim, the duty not to discriminate against women and girls on the basis of their sex is firmly recognised in international law."

Always the same response from everyone who stood silent.
I am beyond done coddling people.
Answer a simple question.
How long did it take you to come out openly and speak against this atrocity after finding out children were being drugged and mutilated?
If the answer isn't THE SAME DAY, there is an issue. My guess is it took you years.
Know how I know this? Because it took everyone years. Why can I stand here and be judgmental? Because I spoke out, THE SAME DAY. The exact same day. Quit my job as a doctor amd had a Supreme Court lawsuot all within a month. I cannot make sense in my mind how someone could not. And then, inevitably, the excuses ring hollow and fall flat.
And I am tired of people making excuses for their awful decisions.
And I know, I know, I'm going to "scare others out of speaking up!"
There are a million arguments that have been hurled at me to deflect from a simple truth. You're all guilty as sin.
The people who did the right thing and demand the same are always the bad guy.
You could save some time and manifest some integrity by saying,
"You're right, there is no excuse, and next time I won't make such a selfish, awful mistake."
But of course, that would be asking far too much, wouldn't it.
You people need to do some real self reflection and realize just what your silence and anonymity cost.
And your partner lawyer should be just as ashamed of himself.
"Protect your job, and us, it's totally worth little children being carved into pieces by your colleagues. We cannot risk it!"
Saying I don’t agree or could you clarify your meaning are not “harmful “ ….
It’s all about control. Whether it’s just men telling women what we can and cannot say or it’s women who hate their femininity and hate their sexuality so much that they want to dominate other traumatised women, who are worn down by their own victimisation. It’s control. It’s forcing a protected class in order to boss the rest of us into submission and I’m not standing for it.

If a person, young or old, adopts an identity that comes packaged with the desire for major medical interventions and the amputation of healthy body parts, that person is in danger and needs help.
Nothing about stating this fact should be controversial.

Many in the @UKLabour appear to have shut out any other narrative than the one they have been 'coached' on. Their repetitive 'reasoning' and justifications tells me they haven't engaged fully with professionals working at the rock face in this area. Gender dysphoria or trans identity is not a diagnosis or a fixed state- it's more a symptom which it's helpful to understand. Exploratory therapies will be out of the question if there is a threat of criminalisation hanging over a clinician's head. And parents' ability to protect their children will be destroyed if this Conversion practices bill passes. @SexMattersOrg
The draft Conversion Practices Bill would silence therapists, harm children and divide families.
That is the warning of our new report, which is based on 30 in-depth interviews with mental-health professionals.
