“crypto’s biggest issue has been swag-less…aura-less” said completely unironically btw. this is an all timer ngl
FaZe Banks explains why Kimchi partnering with Bottega Veneta is a huge win for the industry FaZe Banks: “He’s for sure gonna be able to leverage all this attention to go make $40,000,000. He's 22 years old” Ansem: “Bro he got a partnership with Bottega Veneta. That’s lit” FaZe Banks: “It is lit. I don't care if that's your cup of tea. I don't care if you want to wear Bottega but one thing is fact. We should all be able to come to the consensus, that is good for crypto” “Crypto's biggest issue has been swagless, aura-less. Objectively this is good for us like legitimately could be good for Bitcoin”

I am being re-radicalized into crypto. Genuinely feel like it’s the time for it to shine, Ethereum is a production grade substrate that has held value while trying to be hacked by nation states for 10 years. That security/decentralization/coordination experience matters.

It’s a bit brutal but BTC is probably going to be the big winner of the AI revolution. I don’t think it will suffer any hacks, the scripting language formal verification is very advanced and work in formalizing the protocol too. Nodes running on different hardware make it very robust against hardware vulnerabilities, and their sources are probably one of the most audited code in the world. Combine that with self sovereignty which protects against political backslash from K shaped economy and acceleration of margins flowing to capital, I don’t see much else. To be honest this is my macro view but it’s a pretty grim one.

“traders are the new celebs” just pushes ct further toward the same fate as money twitter, where the only people who break into the mainstream are larps and grifters props to the good guys genuinely trying to build an audience and provide value, but they’ll inevitably be overshadowed by the kimchi-types who are better at playing the attention game the take is directionally correct, but as a result the optics of crypto are probably in a perpetual down only trend

still riding with good alt led cycle thesis, but part of me is starting to question it a little alts will outperform by % as they always do, but I just keep finding more reasons to be bullish btc. it just feels like the perfect asset to own in this weird new world we’re rapidly approaching. really does feel like the only thing holding it back is the hack fears; once those are put to rest, I don’t see why it can’t pull off a face-ripper move through the end of this decade

almost a year later, kinda wanna revisit this the title reads like a direct counter to long degeneracy, but that's not really what i was going for - i may or may not have clickbaited. long degen is more of an investment thesis about owning casinos (which i agree with, s/o jez), while short degen is from a trader / gambler pov about knowing when to leave the table i think it's fair to say gambling has been pretty -ev since the article. perps have gotten increasingly difficult and memecoins are becoming a more solved game with lower ceilings. there's been plenty of opportunities to compound wealth recently, but i haven't seen many newly minted gambling millionaires the framing i was going for was more of a call to return to long-term games, whether that's building something or developing better trading habits, rather than trying to gamble your way to millions. the glory days of that are behind us sadly, at least until there's a net new game and we get another pumpfun or hyperliquid moment definitely sucks, i enjoy nothing more than making a ton of money gambling in a new, inefficient market. still not really sure what the next game is or if we even get one. we've seen attempts at new games, but they've mostly been reframings of or things built on top of existing ones: stock pairs, 1000x lev, etc. cool things, but not quite the 0 -> 1 moment needed to create an entirely new game guess going forward the focus continues to be on thesis-driven trading/investing until there's something new where you can turn your brain off and gamble. can probably still long existing casinos and do well. don't think shorting casinos is ever a great trade, given how reflexive they can be in risk-on conditions. think the best way to express short degeneracy is just practicing better habits and playing better, longer-term games. more or less, un-fry yourself buy cool things that ppl use, made by good ppl. simple as

top on bottega
Kimchi surprises his best friends with a private dinner inside a cave and goodie bags featuring items from Chrome Hearts, Bottega Veneta and Cartier “Over the past few months I've been building a closer relationship with the people at Bottega, specifically Giulia, who essentially runs Bottega” “She has looked to me to help her to build out this vision of this program within the brand called Bright Young Things” “Essentially putting together a group of young, aspirational people who we believe have the potential to represent the next generation of the brand” “Part of that, they hooked it up and gave us some bags. They gave it to me and all of my best friends, you guys” Girls: “Thank you Kimchi”

recent pump changes sort of signal that they’re losing conviction in memecoin growth if you truly believe memecoins grow from here, i’m not sure why you’d cannibalize your core business by adding perps & gacha to your app, giving people alternative ways to lose money that you capture less value from i don’t really see perps or gacha onboarding new users who eventually become memecoin traders

undecided if bullish or bearish pump token, was merely making an observation that it feels like they’re doing soft pivot away from memecoins. tbf I think it’s the correct move, I don’t see a future in focusing solely on memecoins
