I admit I hadn't been paying much attention to this mayoral race and was content to be one of these low information voters who didn't particularly care which candidate I voted for as long as it wasn't this hopeless incumbent. But having spent a few days getting caught up, I have been pleasantly surprised by Bradford. He is actually an excellent candidate.

Yesterday, we broke ground on The Benjamin, a new 58-storey rental community in the heart of Toronto’s Entertainment District.
This LiUNA Pension Fund of Central and Eastern Canada project, developed with Fengate Asset Management, the Hi-Rise Group and SG will bring 528 new rental homes to the city, including 10 affordable units. It will also preserve the historic Benjamin Brown building, carrying an important piece of Toronto’s architectural heritage into the future.
This is what long-term investment can do: create good union jobs, add much-needed homes and help build vibrant communities for generations to come. I’m proud to see LiUNA’s legacy of building and investing in the places our members call home continue in downtown Toronto.
Congratulations to our entire team!

I appreciate this. Where I've come down, for now, is that perhaps most important is how we respond to red flags, concerns, and allegations. Because it's absolutely true that we will never have full knowledge and some people are excellent manipulators. So are we equipped to a) both recognize and discern between genuine red flag behaviors and credible allegations, vs a qualified but imperfect human or vindictive accuser and, b) willing to see and speak clearly if that threshold is met?
Which, in turn, *helps* to equip us to discern who should have support at the outset as well.

I don’t know what’s ahead regarding the allegations that led to the arrests of Seth & Heather Day. They have the right in this country to be heard by a jury and tried in court. But I know this: There’s one fiercely brave girl who defied the odds, broke the family code, marched her bruised body forward and TOLD. God bless that child, heal that child, restore that child and raise that child into one astonishingly mighty woman of faith.

ALT Quote by Prime Minister Mark Carney: “The cowardly act that took place at Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc yesterday is abhorrent. It has no place in this country. My thoughts are with everyone who is shaken and hurt by this disgusting display of hate. This week, we will mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It is a stark reminder of our shared responsibility to confront the devastating legacy of the residential school system and the consequences still felt today. Courageous Survivors shared the truth, so that all Canadians could take up the work of reconciliation.”

We also joined the Sikh Community of St. Thomas for its Free Pizza Drive, which welcomed everyone in the spirit of service and sharing.
We supported the Railway City Road Races, with proceeds going to @bbbs_elgin
And on Sunday, members of our Service attended the 49th @CPPOM in Ottawa to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
A week of remembrance, connection and community.
Thank you to everyone who brought people together and welcomed us in.

In a recent report, researchers looked at the connection between human trafficking and missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.
One of the most disturbing findings it uncovered is that sex buyers on messaging boards in Canada are advising others to specifically find Indigenous women and avoid white women. Why? The Globe's @temurdur explains the troubling logic.

I’m disgusted by the shooting that took place outside the Sons of Jacob Synagogue in Belleville earlier this evening as Jewish community members gathered to mark Yom Kippur.
My thoughts are with the Jewish community in Belleville and across Ontario, who have every right to gather and worship safely and without fear. I expect that all those responsible are arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
My thoughts are also with the police officer who was shot, along with their family and loved ones. We owe an immense debt of gratitude to this brave officer and to all the first responders who acted so quickly to keep the community safe.
Excited for @STPSmedia and the community with their role of of new officers alongside prevention and safety strategies ahead
Yesterday, Chief Marc Roskamp and Inspector Lobsinger, along with Councillors Gary Clarke and Jim Herbert, attended the March Past Graduation at the Ontario Police College.
A proud moment for our Service as we welcome Lovepreet Arneja, Nicholas Oliva and Timothy Ireland as our newest Constables.
Congratulations to each of you on this milestone. We look forward to welcoming you back to St. Thomas and watching you begin your careers with the St. Thomas Police Service.

It is repellent to think that one of Canada's most notorious killers could ever be released on parole.Â
Paul Bernardo was jailed indefinitely, with the judge noting, 'You are a sexually sadistic psychopath. The likelihood of you being treated is remote in the extreme.'
The TPA stands with the families of Kristen French and Leslie Mahaffy, who are consistently revictimized by this absurd notion of possible freedom for a court-designated Dangerous Offender.
We're looking to Secretary of State @rubysahotalib and the governing Liberals to implement necessary and long-overdue changes to Canada's parole system. Protecting victims and law-abiding citizens should always remain the priority.
It is paramount that Paul Bernardo and others like him never be allowed to walk free.
