5 reasons the Trump and Vance bullying of Zelentsky made me angry 1. Arrogance Towards Zelensky Trump and Vance treated Zelensky with blatant condescension, refusing to acknowledge his courageous leadership or the gravity of Ukraine’s struggle. Their smug, patronising words show no understanding of diplomacy or basic manners. Things started badly with Trump mocking Zelentsky's clothing when he arrived. 2. Ignorance of the Situation in Ukraine Their total lack of understanding was evident as they dismissed Ukraine’s urgent pleas for support and downplayed the severity of the war, not just on Ukraine but the world. When challenged, Vance explained that his superior knowledge to Zelentsky about Ukraine came from watching TV and reading news stories. Truth doesn't matter in the administration. 3. Deference to Russia They openly echoed Kremlin-friendly narratives, pressuring Zelensky to consider terms that would benefit Putin rather than Ukraine. Some US commentators have argued that the US is shaping up to being on the wrong side of World War Three. 4. Silence on the Evils of Putin Trump and Vance refused to acknowledge or condemn Putin’s aggression, sidestepping any criticism of his actions while accusing Zelensky instead. 5. Intolerance of Anyone Else’s Opinions They shut down opposing views, making it clear that only their perspective mattered, leaving no room for meaningful discussion. America is a great nation with a proud history. This is a shameful episode.

At today’s date, the “Statement about David Fletcher” (updated 7 Feb. 2025) on @StEbbesChurch website includes this: “Since 2017…St Ebbes received reports from 2 women about him [DF] having been inappropriately tactile with them.” 1/

"One after another... each one has an impact". No. No. No. It isn't repeated singular 'bad apples'. It is the whole culture, from which the preacher is in no way separate. Some of us have spent many years, at great cost, saying just that.

Yes. Why not say, I shouldn't have made light of the situation rather than I did not intend to? Why not say it was hurtful rather than I understand it caused further distress? Why not say I avoided taking personal responsibility rather than I continue to? #gaslighting

Justin Welby is making his valedictory speech in the House of Lords - and first speech since he tendered his resignation as Archbishop of Canterbury Said the church's historic safeguarding failures "must require a head to roll". Said his is the only "head that rolls well enough"

3 years ago I began investigating abuse in so-called calming rooms at Whitefield special school – after 500 hours of CCTV was discovered Now I’ve obtained the footage - children are pushed into rooms, pinned up against walls with rugby pads and left in vomit

When people look back at the history of safeguarding failure @churchofengland one of the key questions will be why it was survivors of abuse who were having to *campaign* for change and accountability. Those with integrity would *want* to change if harm was pointed out to them.

"Rico has done far more than many over the years to expose Smyth’s abuse and far more than most since Makin to speak up on matters of the past" And/**BUT** "Victims do not want revenge, we want full disclosure, and honest, credible apology.’" See: soulinformation.org/blog/for…

I had hoped we would have had full, frank "statements", affidavits, "what I knew, when". From Welby, Conway, Tice. For us, for victims, just tell the bloody truth. Why after 7 years do I still have to ask ? Why has @JustinWelby never had such integrity ? soulinformation.org/blog/for…

In 2014 I started to hear about the church’s cruel and inept treatment of men who disclose abuse. I was sure that there must be women suffering in the same way. Since then I’ve been told so many horrific stories of women being abused. Their stories must and will be heard too.

My friend and colleague Richard Scorer was informed balanced and clear on @BBCR4Sunday There can be no prevarication obfuscation or dissembling. Independence means real independence not “semi detached” as the Church insiders may attempt. It is essential they do not win.

Smyth abuse survivors are adamant that if “ transparency and accountability” mean anything in CofE ++Welby must not be the only senior leader to resign. If so he becomes a scapegoat which is wrong. If I have to be the one to name others then I will but … any suggestions X?

By platforming a keynote speaker about whom serious allegations have been independently examined & upheld, @KeswickMin are contravening their own Values & Safeguarding policy. They’re platforming & promoting an individual whose teaching & example are far from above reproach. 2/2

For many months, @KeswickMin trustees have studiously ignored my plea below & publicly available evidence put before them. They’ve apparently deliberately shielded their eyes & blocked their ears. 1/2
Please @KeswickMin disinvite Dane Ortland as headline speaker at your 2025 conference. Serious allegations about him have been independently examined/upheld. Please conservative evangelicals, urge @KeswickMin to disinvite. @theFIEC @proctrust @UCCF @glenscrivener @leefurney
