Join us for a panel discussion on Police Accountability and the Fight for Justice at the Chicago Teachers Center. Panelists will include:
Brian Mendis – OPA organizer and Midwest PDC representative
Elizabeth Toledo – Mother of Adam Toledo. Adam was 13 years old in 2021 when Chicago cops gunned him down in cold blood as he faced the cop with empty hands raised in the air.
Chantell Brooks – Mother of Michael Westley. 15-year-old Michael was shot down by Chicago cops in 2013. Michael was gunned down as he was running down the street in gym shorts. Cops claimed he had two guns, but no gun is visible in the video moments before he was murdered. In response to the video, Brooks noted, “Anybody in their right mind know you can barely hold keys or a phone or anything in gym shorts and run that fast.”
Cara Wilson – Cara is the mother of Alexis Wilson. 19-year-old Alexis went to a fast-food drive thru weeks before entering college. The police were called when Alexis became upset and had a verbal exchange with a restaurant employee. She refused to get out of the vehicle because she was improperly dressed. One cop punched her through the open driver side window while another jumped into the passenger side and shot her seven times. No gun was found on the scene but that didn’t stop cops from lying, claiming that she had one to justify this brutal execution.
Jasmine Smith – Co-chair of Campaign to Free Incarcerated Survivors of Torture and Co-chair of Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression
Clayborn Smith – on leadership team of We The Survivors. As a young man, Clayborn was arrested for allegedly killing his grandparents and beaten into giving a false confession by one of Jon Burge’s crew. Burge became infamous for his brutal team of cops known for beating and torturing their “suspects” to obtain confessions. Clayborn was one of those victims. Framed up for a crime he did not commit, he spent nearly 30 years in prison. He now dedicates his life to helping others in his situation.

Justice for Kohen Wiley!
Not even black babies are exempt from the racist terror of the Mississippi police. This should be a wake-up call for activists, militant workers and everyone who wants to fight Trump reaction. The protest that has happened pales in comparison to the level of the atrocities committed by cops who brutalize and blow away black people all the time. Whose child will they be “justified” in killing next?
Ever since the liberals and Democrats turned their backs on the black struggle, much of the left has done the same. The left must get it together to put the fight against racist cop terror at the center of a wider pushback against Trump’s attacks.
Kill-crazy cops getting away with murder just emboldens kill-crazy ICE agents to get away with murder and encourages witch-hunts against the left. These are the same racist thugs in blue who will be unleashed on workers if they get out of line. Beating back these attacks will take a real mobilization in the streets, one with the social power to make the cops think twice.
The Mississippi police are notorious for their crimes. Recall the sadistic torture of Michael Jenkins and Eddie Parker at the hands of the “goon squad.” These heinous crimes are not isolated to red states either. Just last week, NYC Democratic Mayor Mamdani protected the cop who killed Win Rozario and the ICE agents who shot Oscar Belgal.
The killing of Kohen Wiley doesn’t show why we need Democrats in office—it shows why we need to fight for labor/black power in this country.
The evidence is so damning that the state won’t even release the video of the shooting! Why? Because it would risk sparking mass revolt to see Kohen killed in the arms of his mother and expose the kinds of crimes cops get away with all the time. Release the Footage!

The NYPD killed another unarmed black man, Koran Irvine, on Tuesday. That the killer cop was retired doesn’t matter. The bottom line is: just being black and driving home from a hard day of work makes the racist pigs think they have a free license to snuff out your life with no consequence.
The former cop, Victor Romero, shot Irvine and then fled. He let Irvine bleed out because he knew he could get away with it. Indeed, Mamdani’s courts just released the killer to go home. Meanwhile, Irvine’s family and coworkers are left in anguish and wanting justice.
Irvine was just 46 years old, a 20-year veteran ConEd worker and father of two. This shows exactly why the fight against black oppression is a working-class fight.
We can’t let them get away with this!
ConEd and other workers should mobilize to protest this atrocity.
OPA now!

The Antioch PD was investigated by the U.S. Department of Justice after the exposure of racist text messages passed among more than 45 cops. Several have been jailed, but no cop involved in Baldwin’s case has been charged.
The DOJ put the APD under supervision to comply with “constitutional, bias-free and community-oriented policing.” The result? No changes in police harassment and brutality, showing yet again how reliance on government forces is a dead end.
On October 9, the DOJ released the APD from supervision, saying that it was in “substantial compliance” with the order. What a travesty!

7 years ago Allan Feliz was killed by NYPD for not wearing a seat belt. His family has been waging an unrelenting battle against 3 Democratic mayors and 6 police commissioners (including BFF Mamdani/Tisch) for a basic ask: Fire Killer Cop Rivera! Instead, he was promoted. To get justice for Allan, the movement against cop terror must be rebuilt. As a start: Open All Police Archives!

ALT Abolish the Racist Death Penalty! For days after Tennessee botched her execution by lethal injection on September 30, Christa Pike lay unconscious, intubated, shackled to a hospital bed with severe burns. When the prison pumped her full of poison, she exclaimed: “My arm feels like it’s about to burst open!” It is reported that she has now made a remarkable recovery.

Here's a powerful Irish song by the Wolfe Tones against repression.
"And you dared to call me a terrorist
while you looked down your gun
I think of all the deeds that you had done
You had plundered many nations,
divided many lands
You had terrorized their peoples,
you ruled with an iron hand
And you brought this reign of terror to my land "
So true, relates in its way to wave of repression here by US Empire in the name that leftists are "terrorists." We invite our comrades, friends and fighters around the globe to arm us with the songs against imperialism, capitalism, and oppression where you are that inspire your fight.

Yet another betrayal by Mamdani. As a Dem Party mayor, like those before him, he’s clear what side he’s on. Socialists should be too.
“Death by incarceration.” Marcos Alcaraz, Jason “Poppy” Philibert, Robert Brooks, Jonathon Grant have been added to the list of the more than 7,504 people who have died while in custody in NYS prison hellholes since 1976--that’s 150 a year.
As Karl Marx said: prisons serve as a key mechanism to subordinate labor, enforce discipline, and criminalize poverty. Workers rule, the abolition of capitalism and the revolutionary transformation of society will do away with this barbaric system.
