"What is Paraguay's military up to, and whose side are they on?" The fact that this hasn't been a question that has mattered this week is a really good sign for Paraguay's progress as a democracy.

Get off X and scroll reels instead. Seeing a waste management rollup billionaire landing a $15m sikorsky on top of a $300m feadship is better for your subconscious than seeing another anon celebrating his first $200k month. More alpha in that than on X in 2026.

🇵🇾 | Horacio Cartes was the principal sponsor of Santiago Peña's presidential candidacy. He didn't merely endorse him. He effectively handpicked him. Now, the man who selected Peña and financed his political rise is backing his removal. Is Cartes genuinely trying to defend institutional integrity, or is he simply withdrawing political protection from a president who has become a liability to his own interests? I would be very cautious about interpreting this as an anti-corruption crusade. Cartes has dominated Paraguayan politics for roughly 15 years. He is also one of the country's wealthiest businessmen and arguably its most influential political figure. The man now positioning himself as a defender of public institutions and an opponent of financial looting has an extraordinary history of international corruption allegations, US sanctions and investigations involving alleged links to organised crime and money laundering. There is a considerable irony in that. #Paraguay
Horacio Cartes - former president, head of the ruling Colorado Party (ANR), and one of the most powerful men in Paraguay - has publicly backed the impeachment of President Santiago Peña. In an official statement, he says the party will not stand by the looting of public, private, and pension funds, and supports the political trial to restore institutional order. A major blow to Peña’s grip on power.

Cyprus is becoming the Paraguay of Europe. It’s a tax play, not a full time lifestyle play. If you want the tax break: rent a cheap apartment, stay 60 days, get the certificate, come back next year. If you’re selling it: stop pretending it’s the perfect place to live, the best real estate market on earth, and where all the top founders already are. Just sell the tax optimization, take the real estate commissions, and run your events. If it wasn’t for the shirtless photo I wouldn’t have even considered it lol
I live in Cyprus🇨🇾 for almost 8 years. This guy visited 5 times. Here's what he got wrong: 1) The weather: > Winter days are ~17 degrees, not 7 > Limassol averages 32 degrees in August, not 40+ > I swim in the sea regardless of the season anyway 2) Getting around: > Every city has a big mall, no need to drive to Larnaca > Limassol to both airports is 50 minutes max, not 1.5 hours > "Only 2 skyscrapers" in Limassol is wrong. Since I moved here, 15+ were built 3) The people: > Cyprus net migration is 40.000+ every year > English is spoken everywhere, so meeting people is very easy > I regularly host entrepreneur meetups with 100 people (next one is November 11) Sure, Cyprus is not a metropolis like Dubai. It's also not a party island like Ibiza. But calling it boring because of that misses the whole point of Cyprus. Peace & focus is Cyprus' USP. Morning swim, deep work, gym & sunset by the sea. No distractions. This way I was able to turn 2.000€ into being financially free within just 8 years. And on top I'm benefiting from one of the best tax regimes in the world: > 15% corporate tax > 0% on dividends as a Non-Dom > No capital gains or wealth tax But to be fair, he's right that the island is small & for bigger events you have to go elsewhere. But with Cyprus' 60-day tax residency you can do exactly that. Having a permanent place you can call home with the freedom to travel the rest of the year. Cyprus might still not be for everyone. But as a 28 y/o entrepreneur that could live anywhere in the world, I'm thankful that I chose Cyprus. It's the best place to be right now. I mean where else do you want to go? I'm genuinely asking. Btw. I also don't have problems dating girls here. Without using Tinder.😂

This FrenchPole makes some good tweets, but this one was horrible. This is like saying: "What is the point of starting a business if it might go bankrupt?" "What is the point of falling in love if you might be cheated?" "What is the point of living if you will die?" Life is full of risk. EMBRACE IT, because risk makes life a wonderful adventure. And have kids.
What's the point of making children if the educational system turns them into leftists, barbarians, and orcs? It can only compound the problem.

🚨 Governments are quietly preparing for a massive shift, and they hope you keep looking the other way. Over the last 48 hours, a chain of "isolated incidents" has crossed the line from coincidence to a clear pattern: • Supermarket freezers across Europe hit by sudden cyber attacks. • Critical power grids failing in downtown DC right before the election. NONE OF THIS IS RANDOM. Are you noticing the shift in your area yet? What are your thoughts on that? 👇

Uruguay is the best Plan B residency Americans can get today: - It’s permanent from the start. You never renew it. - No investment required. No property to buy, no fund to put money into. - You can get the entire process done in one trip. Just 4-5 days in Montevideo, then you can fly home. - You keep it by entering Uruguay once every 3 years. Compare it to Europe. Spain shut down its golden visa, and Portugal’s golden visa now takes a six figure investment + 10 years to reach citizenship. Uruguay was ranked the most peaceful country in Latin America this year, it’s been an unbroken democracy since 1985, it has over 400 miles of coastline, and you can bank in US dollars. There is no better option right now. The firm I partner with in Uruguay handles hundreds of residencies a year, and we’re now offering free consult calls for passport holders from the US, EU, Australia, and Canada. Book at my link in bio.

🔥Mr. Degen and the Crypto Audit📕 Based on a true story. Specific details have been omitted to protect client confidentiality. Mr. Degen, an organised individual, had carefully prepared his tax filings. His income consisted of earnings as a freelancer and capital gains from cryptocurrency with both long term and short term holdings. His freelance work was unrelated to crypto. Following the guidelines, Mr. Degen reported his freelance income under Category B, short-term crypto capital gains under Category G, and long-term crypto capital gains under Category G1. Additionally, to ensure compliance, he off-ramped his cryptocurrency through a Portuguese exchange. 🕵️‍♂️The Audit Begins Several weeks after submitting his IRS declaration, Mr. Degen received a notification from AT (Autoridade Tributária) requesting additional information due to an audit (Divergência). With the request to explain his Category B freelance income. With assistance from his tax consultant and legal help, Mr. Degen drafted a letter explaining the origin of the income reported in Category B. Upon reviewing the letter, AT approved the audit. ⌛️3 months later... Three months passed, but Mr. Degen had yet to receive his final tax assessment. Seeking clarity, he reached out to AT through the E-Balcão platform. E-Balcão: "We only see two invoices in the system, both of which are without VAT." Mr. Degen: "The total declared in my IRS matches the sum of the invoices issued." He attached a screenshot of the invoices as evidence. E-Balcão: "Peço Desculpa (we apologize), but the audit was not regarding that. We need documented proof for Category G." In response, Mr. Degen provided an Excel spreadsheet containing all the data he had reported in his IRS filing. E-Balcão: "We do not accept Excel files. Only PDF documents up to 5MB are supported." 🛠️A Quick Fix Mr. Degen made a screenshot of his Excel data and converted it into a PDF file and promptly submitted it to the authorities. Less than an hour after submitting the final document, AT approved his IRS declaration.

Just finished 20 days in Paraguay. There's a lot of Paraguay 'propaganda' (especially on X). Some accounts make it look like heaven on earth. It’s my second time here. Trust me, it's not a paradise. The traffic sucks. The weather can be brutal. The walkability is OK (I have tripped a few times now haha). It's not as cheap as last year. There isn't a tonne to do—I have never spent so much time walking around shopping malls. BUT I do love it here. Why? First, the people. Everyone has been so friendly. When I arrived the first time, I could barely speak Spanish, and English isn't as common as in other countries, but I never felt unwelcome. People are relaxed and positive (despite having a lot less than back home in the UK). Second, it's safe. I can walk around at night in a lot of neighbourhoods without worrying about being robbed. Third, it's up and coming. Sure there's a lot of construction, which is noisy af. But it's cool to see the birth of a bigger city (Asunción). You've got good apartments, gyms, restaurants—everything you need to hunker down and work. And like any city, there are little gems to discover. I plan on getting my permanent residency next. But for now, it's time to check out Colombia 🇨🇴

Within 24 hours of the ‘coup’ in Poland - an initial political consensus is reached. Left wing, right wing and centre right all more or less agree with the President's proposal. Only the ruling party (centre left) disagree. It will take much longer for a full political settlement but still this is de-escalatory and constructive. Relative to most countries, Poland is still quite stable and a large part of this is because the voters are still ethnically homogeneous. Too bad for the Western woke right influencers / grifters, who all became Polish constitutional law experts last night. They want violence and division as it gets them clicks and shekels.
Looks like Tusk's gambled and lost. Nawrocki has had a series of meetings with parties from hard right to hard left, and seems like everyone outside Tusk's coalition is onboard with president's idea of "reset": scraping the current judges and electing entirely new ones.

Very good post. Many expats are either in the honeymoon phase or trying to sell a subscription to their substack on what an expert they are in Latin America. 😂
A lot of expat advice is written by people still in the honeymoon phase. Come back after: two tax returns one plumbing problem a hospital visit and renewing the residency. Then tell me what you think.

POV: last thing you see b4 losing 40%++ on a property investment
Buying Offplan in Cyprus🇨🇾 is literally free money right now. Here's proof: Earlier this year 2 Norwegians🇳🇴, Frederik & Tomas, flew to Cyprus. They wanted to buy their first property & we showed them around Paphos. Their plan was a resale apartment. But then we showed them a brand-new Offplan unit for the same money: > 2BR, 80m² in Geroskipou, Paphos > Sea & mountain views > Underfloor heating, electrical shutters & appliances included > Communal rooftop with BBQ area & 180° sea view > Pool, covered parking & close to the sea 320.000€ for a sea view apartment in one of the best locations in Paphos. 2 days later they signed & flew back to Norway. And now comes the free money: The last available unit (same size, lower floor) was sold for 375.000€. So their apartment is already worth at least 55.000€ more than they paid. And as the construction is finished now, the rentals start soon as well. But Frederik & Tomas live in Norway, so we manage everything on the ground for them. We rent the apartment out short-term for a yearly average of 130€ per night. We expect a yearly income of approx. 30.000€, after expenses. That's an ROI of approx. 9.4% on their investment. The value gain not even included. And it gets even better: Cyprus has a loophole on how they will get all the paid VAT back. Short-term counts as business, so we register their company for VAT & claim the full VAT back on every invoice. In addition, Cyprus offers: > 15% corporate tax on the rental profit > 0% property tax > 0% wealth tax > 0% withholding tax on the dividends they pay out That's the power of Offplan. One in Cyprus. Literally "free money" as Tomas said.
