However, such partnerships must complement, not replace, the government's fundamental duty to provide accessible, affordable, and reliable public services. For years, concerns have persisted over the management and delivery of these essential services in Lagos. The New Way, as articulated by HE Funso Doherty, calls for a government that prioritises public welfare, manages public resources transparently, and directs the funds generated by Lagos towards meeting the social needs of its residents. Under the vision of The New Way, government will be expected to take ownership of its responsibilities, strengthen public service delivery, and ensure that every Lagosian has access to the basic amenities necessary for a dignified life.
