And now for the fells: cavorting around in 4WDs and on motorbikes is as wrong as discharging sewage into Windermere.

Unfortunately it’s also a destination for off-roaders from all over Europe. Some tracks, like at Tilberthwaite, are part of a European network for off-road motorbikes. Please explore what this does to the landscape! On NT land! @nationaltrust

Green lanes are ancient tracks, mainly used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders as well as farmers. But many can also be used by 4x4s and motocross bikes. Lakes Parish Council is doing a consultation on green lanes and now's your chance to have your say...
