Actually no. I change my thoughts on this. I think that overstepping has never existed for them in Eddie's mind. Buck is constantly afraid of overstepping with Eddie because he is afraid of being too much or taking too much. Eddie just acts like they are partners already.

“Overstepping” has never existed for Buck and Eddie before. Because their lives are so intertwined and they play the part of partner for each other so often. We aren’t even supposed to agree when Buck says that, but rather see it as a jarring defensive moment from him
