They must have been smoking exotic cigarettes in cabinet the day they came up with the idea of a 36% annual charge on paper gains.
The socialists have had a giggle, munched some sweets and returned to the real world - it is now the more traditional CGT of tax on profits at sale.
This chart is very bad news for everyone, more households are net gainers than contributers and it's getting worse.
Do not assume there will be a meaningful state pension in the future. We all need to save and invest for a secure retirement, the current system is not sustainable

An interesting post by Peter Urbani on LinkedIn describing a novel way to describe market moves.
It is visually appealing, but I think a stacked bar chart may give the same info in an easier way to digest.
Maybe it could describe sector moves within the overall market more easily
Earlier today I was possibly too critical of @TheSecretAcct by saying his data was old.
It's fine to highlight good US ETF performers, but he misses that there are actually better UK ITs covering similar sectors, often with less volatility and all available in UK.

Buckinghamshire Council's SEND school transport payments to one taxi firm rose 11.4x in four years: £310,397 to £3,550,151.
All payments to the firm: from £1.17M (2021) to £6.18M (2025), according to the council's own FOI figures.
The contracts behind that money? Almost none are published. The accounts for the firm? Incorrectly filed in a way that obscures any useful details. 🧵

In the 1640's the Dutch inhabitants of New Amsterdam built a 12 foot wall to keep the
"bad people" out. In 1664 the British ignored the wall and took New Amsterdam by sea. It's now called New York. They took down the wall and built a street, which is now called Wall Street.

What about the day after England gets knocked out entirely?
Across all 10 tournaments, the market drops its emotion instantly. The day after final elimination is a perfect 50/50 split (5 up days, 5 down) averaging a completely flat +0.005%.
