Feel good story: I month ago, sustainability magazine "The Cooldown" wrote a piece on Bitcoin mining's environmental impact contained many factual errors and omissions. thecooldown.com/green-busine… I started a dialog with a member of their team, sharing research they were not aware of. I also wrote to the founder. One month later, they just wrote a well researched piece that highlight's bitcoin mining's environmental, grid stabilizing and geopolitical benefits. thecooldown.com/green-busine… Better still, mainstream news outlet Yahoo News picked up their article and ran it too (something they did not do with their earlier piece) yahoo.com/news/experts-turni… Much of the credit for this goes to @DecentraSuze, who wrote a Forbes article which they referenced heavily forbes.com/sites/digital-ass… and @geyer_rachel who's work doing Heat Recycling in Finland with @terahash_space was featured prominently in their article. That's 9 sustainability magazines who now cover Bitcoin mining's environmental benefits! This is important because many of the people standing at the sidelines, both retail and institutional investors are doing so because they believed the original media reports of Bitcoin being environmentally harmful. Undoing this misinformation takes a lot of time and effort, but slowly, together, with empathy and dialog with those who do not yet get bitcoin, we are doing it.
