¡Touchdown, Los Aggies!
Pedro Luna '90 grew up listening to @AggieFootball games on the radio in Mexico. Now, Pedro and his team call the Texas A&M Spanish broadcast and share the Aggie Spirit with Spanish speakers around the world! @pedluna @los_aggies

My @AggieFootball @AlabamaFTBL journey…
This is the seventh year that I’ve had the honor of broadcasting for @AggieFootball and @los_aggies for @lajefa1027fm and year one with @PlayflySports for @TAMU.
This game has been special for a very long time…
…my family and I moved to BCS (yes, BCS, not c-stat) and even before I knew it, we had connections to this rivalry. There was an article by @TheBattOnline recently that I still need to work with the editorial team to print an in depth correction regarding a property on Congress Street in the @CityofBryan . (1/x)
Those of you who were part of my #AggieMuster speech for the McKinney A&M Club have heard some of the story. Mr. Bob and Mrs. Kate Bernath introduced our family to a deep part of the Aggie Football which digs deep into the roots of our football program.
We have tried to broadcast from Tuscaloosa; however, as is the case with many of Southeastern Conference schools, spacing is tight for broadcasting. This year, we were finally able to secure space to broadcast from Bryant-Denny Stadium. My heartfelt thanks to Aaron Jordan, from the Ahtletics Communications group for Alabama Football and his team for their amazing hospitality. (2/x)
@UACoachMurphy I loathe that I didn’t get a chance to catch up with you.

For this game, I recorded a half-time segment for our broadcast in Tuscaloosa which included a lot of the ties within both universities - from Bear Bryant to Gene Stallings to Jackie Sherilll to now being whitin the confines of Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
From a personal perspective, there was a different angle:
- The Bernath Connection
- Meeting Gene Stallings and his family
- Spending time with King Jackie
- Watching Johnny Football and the Aggies beating Alabama in 2012
- Calling “Los Aggies Ganan” in 2021 at Kyle Field
- My brother-in-law Henry… (4/x)

Prior to me broadcasting, “Lizabutt” hosted many a watching parties at his home for this rivalry - those times came to mind.
…after everything was setup at our broadcast perch, it was time to get ready for going on the air. Lo and behold, the pre-game program included many scenes from Bear Bryant and his voice - that, immediately connected my journey full circle.
Before the game, I ran into several of my media peers from TexAgs and I truly believed we would pull the win. Alas, our nemesis the clock made an appearance and, once again, we ran out of time. (7/x)
As I drove back home after the game, the pain of being outscored faded. The memories of the deep roots of the A&M-Alabama connections rose to the surface and helped me appreciate the experience of this weekend more than this lengthy post can capture.
At the end of the day, there is one phrase that will always rise to the surface…
…”There’s a Spirit, can ne’er be told”

Howdy Aggies! ¡Hola Raza! Un hermosa día para que #LosAggies empiecen el fuego. @los_aggies #BTHOalabama @aggieonair @AggieFootball
My Math brain loves this.
Today, the calendar makes a right triangle, for the last time this century.
This Saturday is October 24, 2026.
Write it as 10/24/26 or 24/10/26, and the same beautiful relationship appears:
10² + 24² = 26²
100 + 576 = 676
But here’s what makes today special.
There are infinitely many Pythagorean triples. Only a handful fit our calendar.
Using the rule
month² + day² = (last two digits of the year)²,
the month cannot exceed 12, and the day cannot exceed 31. Those small limits leave exactly 12 qualifying dates in this century.
Today is the last.
The next will be March 4, 2105:
3² + 4² = 5²
That is a wait of more than 78 years.
An infinite family of triangles. Just twelve appearances on a century’s calendar.
Happy Pythagorean Triple Day.

Most decaf coffee is made with methylene chloride. It's the solvent that used to be in paint stripper.
The green beans are steamed, then washed in methylene chloride, which pulls out the caffeine and not much else. The beans are steamed again to drive off the solvent and then roasted at over 400F. FDA allows up to 10 parts per million. When a lab tested 24 decaf brands in 2020 it found the solvent in 10 of them at about 0.05 to 0.1 ppm, around 100 times below the limit. The industry calls this the European method.
There are 3 other ways to do it. Ethyl acetate, a solvent that can be made from sugarcane, which the trade calls the natural method. Carbon dioxide under pressure. And the Swiss Water process, which uses hot water and carbon filters and no solvent at all. Peet's says all of its decaf is water process. Starbucks has told reporters most of its decaf is the direct contact method, meaning solvent.
EPA banned most uses of methylene chloride in 2024, but food is FDA's job, so decaf wasn't part of it. A petition to pull it from food has sat at FDA since December 2023. FDA reopened comments on it in May and hasn't decided. If the bag says Swiss Water or water process, no solvent touched it. If the bag says nothing, you don't know.
