Phage researchers, could you help out?
Reviewer asks us to refer to "phage typing as a standard tool for the differentiation of Bacilli". Can anyone point to specific literature applicable for all Bacilli? Or is it only for differentiating certain species from each other?

Indeed! We’re very happy to share that our work is out! Chris Johnson found that the mobile genetic element ICEBs1 protects his host by preventing the lytic cycle of the formidable phage SPB 🦠 . Check it out!! 😁
In a new @PLOSGenetics study, @Grossman_Lab found that a mobile chunk of DNA called ICEBs1 protects bacteria from predation by viruses: bit.ly/3GKFfRm

FAQ: how to start a phage lab? What equipment do you need and how to organize the work? Any hints?

Atomic structure of bacteriophage T7.
I'm really loving what I've been able to get out of @UCSFChimeraX and blender.
I'm also attempting to show something approaching realistic brownian motion.

Has the risk of phages carrying AMR genes been overstated? After 100+ phage genomes analyzed by @jrclark_unc, he says he has yet to find one.. [caveat: mostly lytic phages being screened] — @EvergreenPhage #phage #bioinformatics workshop

It's almost time for @EvergreenPhage to begin!! Kicking off tomorrow w/ a #phage #bioinformatics workshop by @jrclark_unc & @AdriCaroHM! It starts at 9:30AM tomorrow (yes, on Sunday!) and will go until approx 3:30PM, w/ break for lunch. See you soon, whether in person or online!

Check out our article on competition between microviruses! We create hybrid phages using golden gate to mix and match segments of closely related viruses to learn more about how they overcome super-infection immunity, despite their compact genomes

Michael Blazanin and Paul Turner @PaulTurnerLab published a preprint finding that community context (the presence of other bacterial species) sometimes has zero effect on #phage-host evolution, and other times constrains phage-host coevolutionary dynamics buff.ly/366fRp3

Excited to see my first ever first-author paper and the first chapter of my dissertation out now in @ISMEJournal!
We did an exhaustive review/synthesis of what is known about the effects of community context on bacteria-phage ecology and evolution (spoiler: not much)
