We have convened a tribunal over a figure of speech. Is pregnancy a death sentence? Not in the letter, for a sentence presumes certainty, and most mothers live. Yet in 2023, some 75,000 Nigerian women died in the act of bringing forth life, nearly 3 in every 10 maternal deaths on earth. 993 for every 100000 births, where the world asks for fewer than 70. The priests of semantics dispute the liturgy while the graves fill. The metaphor is not our crime. Our crime is the indifference that makes it plausible. I hope that in time we shall bend our minds to what matters, and lose sight of this idle clamour.

Coming from OAU to UI, one of the biggest culture shocks I experienced was just how fiercely devoted people are to their halls. It influences almost everything about you. It's almost cult-like at this point. Tch!

I really don’t get these X ‘pharmacist/ Doctor’ issues. Maybe because i have been out of the clinic setting for a while. The experience i had with Medical Doctors( especially consultants)was nothing short of respectful and appreciative.
