We should be having open conversations about requiring the US to remove their forces from Europe. We should be pulling European exchange officers from US HQs as a minimum. It’s going to happen anyway; those forces won’t do anything for us if we’re attacked (other than basically being human shields at best); and at this point, there’s frankly a concern which side they would weigh in on. Every chance they would try and force a pro-Russian ceasefire on us as well, as they are trying to do in Ukraine. Trump’s posture and many of his cabinet appointments make the USA a security threat to Europe, both directly and diplomatically. They are no longer a security guarantor. Europe has some muscles to flex still; we should flex them. We still have 4 of the top 10 economies in the world. It will be painful for us, but loss of US forward basing and strategic reach will hurt them deeply. Our air power alone is more than enough to deal with Russia, if Russian air defence systems’ performance in Iran is anything to go by. Our leaders just need to show some balls in standing up to the bullying clown in the White House and his team. I’ll wait.

We did not surrender when we were given three days and the American embassy was packing its bags. We did not surrender our capital when elite Russian units were in its suburbs. We repelled the enemy from Kyiv, Chernihiv, and Sumy. We defeated them in the Kharkiv region. We liberated Kherson. And we tied them up in battles in the Donbas, which the enemy could not capture for three years. We invented FPV. And with drones for $500, we took out more than half of its armored potential. We paralyzed the Russian fleet. We destroyed dozens of refineries. We forced the enemy to burn entire brigades for the sake of one village, to fight in crippled regiments, to transfer to donkeys, and to become artillery dependent on the Koreans and economically dependent on the Chinese. For the first time in history, we entered the territory of a nuclear state in order to force the aggressor to make peace. And at the same time, no matter how difficult it was, we did not fall apart, we retained control. We won subjectivity. At a high price. Perhaps we are the last adults in this turbulent world. And no matter how hard we try to rock our ship, to undermine our inner stability, we will write our own future. And even if we are given a few days again, this does not mean that all the predictions will come true. Orest Drymalovskyi 🫡🇺🇦

This speech is full of half-truths, distortions, misleading claims and outright lies. Basically living up to every meme, trope and unfair stereotype, of Americans being ignorant morons. I'll go through each of the claims he made in this segment and what the actual facts are. /1

Friends, I need your help to find work for a dear Afghan friend of mine in the Sheffield area. A former captain in the Afghan National Army, he was in his final term studying Law in Kabul when the Taliban took over in 2021. He was forced to flee with nothing. Our team swept him up and got him to safety. He’s tried everything since he’s been here but it’s tough to find a job with no recognised qualifications. He’s currently delivering pizzas part time. He will try any job - he just wants to work and get off benefits. He’s better than that. Speaks good English. Can anyone give him a chance to prove himself?

A really good friend warned me tonight about criticising the “two tier policing” concept, as - and I get this - it has an overlap with what one supposes has become “my audience”. I’ll paraphrase my reply to him. Here’s the thing: you have to understand how I work. I’m a loyal person (and I’d hope you would expect that from a former soldier) and I’m prepared to die on a hill if I believe something to be right. I don’t take shekels for my Israel analysis, no matter how many times I’m accused of it. I’m not “pro-Israel”: I genuinely believe in the analysis I share. And I’m not very good at stepping back if I think something is worth fighting for. I’ve put in loads of work on the two tier policing issue. As a disinformation psychology expert, I am seeing the exact same patterns with “2 tier policing” allegations that I see with libellous allegations against Israel. I visited the Met as an army officer, specialising in public order, to learn about working with the police for a job I had. I sat in planning meetings for public order. I’ve shadowed bronze and silver police commanders for whole days and I’ve seen how they make decisions. I’ve dug into the statistics. There’s just no evidence for 2 tier policing other than anecdotal stuff from both sides, who *all* feel they’re policed unfairly. I’m certain the “2 tier policing” thing is a combination of: 1) lack of knowledge of the law, the Criminal Justice System, how the police operate and what powers the police actually have. I also think the piss-weak Crown Prosecution Service are getting a free pass for hanging the police out to dry. 2) overreliance on edited and biased social media footage to form opinions. 3) terrible police comms/messaging (and let’s be clear - they are dreadful at this). If this stance hurts my public profile, then it hurts my public profile. I’m fine with that. I’m not going to desert my police friends or stop standing up for what I think is right… in the same way I wouldn’t desert my Jewish and Israeli friends, or stop standing up for them because I get a wall of abuse on here every day. I’m very black and white. And in this case, blue. In the UK our police are fantastic. They do a superb and difficult job in the face of relentless criticism, and they have my respect. On this issue, I’m square in their corner.

Police officers have worked eye watering hours this weekend, officers have come face to face with hatred/violence unimaginable to most. There will be families/loved ones worried sick about whether their son, daughter, husband, wife, mother, or father will return home safely 🙏💙

Free legal advice: You don’t have to attend a riot to be prosecuted for conspiracy to riot. You don’t have to be present at a terrorist incident to be guilty of encouraging it. A lot of Twitter warriors will be getting some unpleasant knocks on the door over the coming weeks.

Ok, let’s answer “Why don’t you deploy Cops in riot kit immediately when there’s disorder”…👀 It’s a very fair question and one Cops ask themselves frequently too! 🫡 So why do we often deploy Cops in their patrol uniform first? To deploy Cops in ‘Code 2’ or ‘Kit’ or ‘Level Two Kit’ more commonly know to the public as ‘Riot Kit’ we need intelligence in advance. Intelligence that Officers are at significant risk of violence and that they need this PPE to protect them. Intelligence that there might be petrol bombs or flares or fireworks is relevant too because the kit is flame retardant. You may notice Cops wear this kit at significant sporting fixtures for this flare / flammable material issue. 🔥 There’s also the very significant factor that if it’s a spontaneous incident or protest there is limited time to gather that intelligence to plan and deploy Officers in their kit. 🙃 We also have a duty to de-escalate. That is directed by and comes from @CollegeofPolice who are directed by @ukhomeoffice. We are directed on what we can and cannot do in the Authorised Professional Practice (APP) given to us. Already sounding complicated isn’t it? We *have to* consider how the policing approach will affect different communities and whether a significant Police presence is more or less likely to cause disorder. 🤯 There’s also a resilience issue. In #London things are sometimes a bit simpler, we can have Officers on #PublicOrder duties in patrol uniform, and then Officers in Level Two Kit on standby nearby if needed. I don’t know how many Officers were on duty last night in Southport, but that kind of resilience takes a significant number of Cops. So to withdraw the Cops in patrol uniform and get them kitted up can be a complicated and lengthy procedure depending on where their kit is. 😅 Even more complicated, not all Cops are Level Two Public Order trained - it’s voluntary. So we have to take into account that some Cops will need to be withdrawn completely because they cannot wear or use the correct PPE. 🤷🏼‍♂️ The takeaway point here is we are duty bound to try and deescalate wherever possible and if we don’t, we are scrutinised, criticised and punished. 😔 I feel we could be better at communicating all this, which is why I try wherever I can to offer these explainers. ✅ #ThinBlueLine 🚨

And now, the community clear up. A local construction company deployed men and machines in Southport, locals turning out with brooms and wheelbarrows to clear the debris. @GMB

We’ve received a lot of messages in the last 24hrs, sorry I couldn’t reply to everyone but I’m sure you understand why. Thank you for your kindness and support, it means a lot. Teddy my 7 yr old daughter was at the horrific incident in Southport yesterday. She went in with her best friend, a friend she was so lucky to have; the smartest, prettiest little angel from the best family you could ever wish to know. It breaks my heart to say her little friend has been taken away from this cruel world. We just pray she is in peace and her family find the strength to get through this. Her Mum, My Dad an I were one of the first at scene, when only 3 officers present so the media reports of it being armed officers who detained him is not true - it was local, every day police officers. They defied orders and risked their own lives to protect the lives of children from our community. The things witnessed will live in our memories forever. Those same police officers; who get paid less than a McDonald’s manager, got home, hugged their own kids and got back up this morning to do it all again, are now being attacked on the streets. No matter what your political views are, they are not the problem. Please, for the sake of the poor victims and their families, STOP THE VIOLENCE. We will forever be in debt to Leanne, Heidi, Greg, Joel, John and every other hero who helped save so many lives. 💙 ❤️💜

Traumatising further children by destroying their neighbourhood, the day after their friends have been murdered, is the most fucking selfish thing I’ve ever heard of.
