A new report and PoC proves that passkeys are not the silver bullet we have been told they are. We look at this issue and other stories related to privacy, security, and business.

We have released tools to help mitigate, detect, and audit systems for #PHP2Shell, #Node2Shell, #HTTP2Shell, and 30+ other CVEs from the past month. Free to copy, remix, share👇github.com/PrivacySafe/secur…
Update to #PHP2Shell Alert: SIGMA rule helps identify potentially suspicious activity & incorporated partner resources. If your org can't update immediately or uses unsupported PHP 8.1 or earlier versions, take affected PHP-based systems offline until patched or updated.
I hate RTing Boardy but its tough to argue with this. Come hang out! fsf.org/blogs/community/2026… #privacy

This gratis event is divided into two parts. First we will discuss #surveillance and how encryption protects personal #privacy, which will include a Q&A with Henry Fisher, the founder of @TechloreInc and a digital rights activist, as well as a short video from renowned cryptographer Bruce Schneier.
EncryptFest will include a hands-on workshop on how you can encrypt your email using the FSF's Email Self-Defense guide (ESD). Join Us!

This is by far the highest quality confirmation of in-the-wild php2shell exploitation I've seen so far. Deep technical breakdown of a successful exploitation attempt against an Apache mod_php installation running PHP 8.4.26.

Me: I'll install Linux to be more productive. Also me, three weeks later: on my ninth distro, tweaking a terminal theme I look at for 20 minutes a day. Productivity was the friends we made along the way.
Everybody's working [on] the weekend... 🎶 #infosec
Our #security patch repository now addresses the latest #PHP2shell exploits in the wild. We've published 9 scripts to address 22 CVEs across 10 software projects and 6 programming languages, plus 2 other disclosed #infosec incidents. github.com/PrivacySafe/secur…

Who knew? Outbound filtering works!
Over the past several months, we have substantially hardened the security of our research training environment. We’ve removed live internet access for all frontier models during training and built an offline world for them to use instead—a cached version of the web where they can still learn to browse, search, and use applications.
On September 20, after a model exploited a DNS misconfiguration to find a way outside of this offline world, we paused frontier training to strengthen containment further. We assembled teams of agents, powered by our most cyber-capable models, and tasked them with finding weaknesses in our research environments.
While they found no route to the internet they could easily exploit while concealing their activity from our monitors, they did find zero-day vulnerabilities, virtual machine escapes, and hardware side-channels for communication between agents. We used their discoveries to further strengthen our defenses and contribute fixes to open-source software.
After strengthening our containment architecture, we resumed our frontier RL training and inference on October 1. We’ve reserved substantial compute for continuous red-teaming, and made high-compute red-teaming part of the safety cases we use to decide whether frontier training and evaluation can proceed securely.
