I wrote about earlier versions of that plot here, which included ages 5 to 54 and all sexes, and not only males aged 5 to 21: sars2.net/ethical.html#Updat…. @MaryBowdenMD In the plot ES also included deaths with the multiple cause of death X44 ("Accidental poisoning by and exposure to other and unspecified drugs, medicaments, and biological substances"), even though he deceptively omitted X44 from his list of ICD codes at the bottom of the plot. And he also excluded deaths with COVID listed as a multiple cause of death, even though he failed to mention it anywhere in his plot. He claimed there was a 3.36% annual decrease in deaths between 2018 and 2019, but when I tried downloading the data from CDC WONDER and using his methodology to calculate the baseline, I only got an annual decrease of about 1.3% between 2018 and 2019. (ES falsely thinks that CDC WONDER used different suppression behavior before 2018 than from 2018 onwards, so in these plots that display weekly data from 2018 onwards, he generally seems to fit the baseline using only data from 2018 and 2019. Or he just makes up a fake baseline, or he artificially exaggerates the decline percent of the baseline, like he seems to have done here.) He also made up fake data for 2024 and later years, as you can see from the blue line being more smooth in 2024 and later years but more noisy in earlier years, and from his blue line diverging from my gray line in early 2024. In reality the excess deaths went down after 2023, because there was a big drop in drug deaths after 2023, but when ES made up fake data for 2024, he was able to give the false impression that the deaths remained at a sustained elevated level.
