as a mainland filipino who also used to only be fluent in english & couldn't speak tagalog, once you realize how many here share that same struggle (esp children), you stop caring about the teasing you got & start getting angry at the grip colonial mentality has on the country.

well yeah cuz a LOT of us dont speak Filipino in the first place. my native tongue is Cebuano, i lived a decent portion of my life speaking only English & Cebuano, learned Tagalog/Filipino only when i hit my late teens. i struggle still. +++
