Nebraska’s 20-year rot isn't just on coaches. It’s driven by an unchecked booster & regent class. Donor meddling & politics have sabotaged every regime since 2004. Firing staff treats the symptom. Until we expose the power brokers treating NU like a toy box, mediocrity continues.

A weekly church "small group" where men eat store-bought muffins and discuss their feelings is not brotherhood.
It is a support group for defeat.
Real brotherhood is forged in shared labor, shared liability, and shared danger.
It is men who co-sign on land, trade equipment back and forth, train each other’s sons, and show up with work gloves and tools when a brother’s roof caves in.
David’s mighty men didn't bond over coffee talks. They fought shoulder-to-shoulder in the cave of Adullam.
Turn your fellowship into an operational phalanx.

The deeper I dig into Flatwater Free Press, the more questions pile up.
A tax-exempt, left-leaning newsroom. Millions from wealthy foundations. Tax-deductible donations. And Nebraska’s Department of Economic Development listed among its financial supporters.
That’s right. Nebraska taxpayers are helping fund this operation while we’re getting hammered by property taxes.
Let that sink in.
Then there’s the China question. Flatwater Chinese national reporter investigates Nebraska’s water and agriculture while China requires its citizens to cooperate with intelligence authorities. What safeguards protect sensitive information from foreign-government pressure?
Who funds these investigations? What strings are attached? Who ensures editorial independence?
Flatwater demands transparency from everyone else.
Time to OPEN YOUR OWN BOOKS.
At this point, maybe some Nebraska journalists should wear sponsor logos like NASCAR drivers so readers know who’s funding their newsrooms.
Take Andrew Wegley at Flatwater Free Press. He publicly mocks Republicans, amplifies Jane Kleeb’s political commentary, and then promotes his supposedly impartial reporting on the SAME X account.
Meanwhile, Flatwater’s parent organization has received $300K from the Weitz Family Foundation. Wally Weitz sits on its board, and Barbara Weitz personally gave $750K to Democrat Lynne Walz.
Does that prove anyone bought favorable coverage? No. But it sure raises questions about transparency and impartiality.
Flatwater’s own ethics policy warns against conduct that makes readers question a reporter’s neutrality.
Nobody expects journalists to be without opinions. But don’t publicly parade your political preferences and then expect readers to ignore them.
At least NASCAR drivers are upfront about their sponsors.

The reason communism never dies is because envy never dies, and communism is little more than the politics of resentment - it is the desire to take from others and give to yourself, because you believe they have too much when you don’t have enough. It is really this simple.

Why do we have to do this stadium project? Back out of it. Pay whatever fees come with that. Save some money from that and use it to fire Rhule

Here’s an idea: we stop sending over $400m/year in state aid to failing metro schools districts with horrible test scores and let the money stay in the hands of the people paying the tab.
I can’t be the only one noticing a pattern in Lincoln.
2014: Bo Pelini tells his players the AD was “never going to support us.”
2017: Bill Moos later reveals he preferred Chip Kelly over Scott Frost, but says a veteran regent and major donor opposed the idea.
2021: Moos abruptly retires with more than two years remaining on his contract. Trev Alberts takes over and restructures Frost’s contract, reducing his salary and establishing a lower future buyout.
2022: Alberts fires Frost three games into the season, triggering a $15M buyout just weeks before it would’ve dropped to $7.5M. He then hires Matt Rhule on an eight-year, $74M contract.
2024: Just four months after signing an extension through 2031, Alberts abruptly leaves. Regent Tim Clare urges him to stay, offering to address concerns about Nebraska’s structure, operations, and leadership. Alberts had previously championed a $450M stadium renovation, approved in 2023 and later paused.
2025: Troy Dannen, Alberts’ successor, publicly questions the timing of a major stadium investment, citing the university’s financial challenges. Months later, amid Penn State speculation, he extends Rhule through 2032, committing another $25M across 2031 and 2032.
2026: Just eight months after Dannen said “the time is not now,” the Board of Regents approves a revised $600M stadium renovation. Meanwhile, another disappointing football season leaves Nebraska facing a substantial financial obligation if it decides to move on from Rhule.
Tim Clare has served on the Board of Regents since 2009, spanning multiple coaches, athletic directors, and university administrations. His communications with Alberts show that concerns about leadership reached the highest levels.
We’ve spent years demanding accountability from coaches and athletic directors. Maybe it’s time the people overseeing the decisions, contracts, and hundreds of millions of dollars face that same scrutiny.

I am begging you, download an open source AI model this weekend.
It's one file, 5 to 20GB, and it runs on the laptop you already own. You won't need an account, a subscription or an internet connection once it's on your drive.
Your paid AI can change overnight, cost more next year or lock you out. A model file you keep gives the same answers in 2036 that it gives today.
Grab Qwen or Gemma, install a free open-source app to run it, and ask it the questions you'd never type into a website.
Setup takes about 20 minutes.
You'll be glad it's done the day your account gets locked.

An Oregonian’s warning for Texas.
Texans, we’ve had one-party Democratic control for decades and here’s what it looks like:
• Measure 110 made hard drugs basically legal. Overdoses and camps took over the streets.
• Portland defunded police and stopped prosecuting. Homicides and car thefts shot up after 2020.
• We spend a ton on schools and still rank near the bottom on reading and math. Kids aren’t even showing up for class.
• Strict land-use rules and zoning killed housing supply. Rents and home prices are out of control.
• High income taxes plus a new Corporate Activity Tax made the business climate terrible. People and jobs keep leaving.
• More people are moving out than moving in. They’re done with the costs, crime, and quality of life.
• Forest management got shut down. Now the wildfires are bigger and more destructive.
• Downtown Portland is still half-empty with open air drug use years later.
• Utility bills have jumped. PGE rates up around 50-60% in recent years from renewables mandates, grid costs, and other policies.
• Boys are allowed in girls sports stealing opportunities and sports titles from our daughters.
The list goes on.
Don’t let Democrats take over and destroy Texas too. You will lose your voice, and before you can get it back, they will rig the maps and gerrymander to keep you silent for good. Stop them before it’s too late.
With love,
A conservative Oregonian
