Every time I speak to Scotland’s care sector, they tell me they need more people.
Westminster’s migration policies are very damaging to social care, but I’m proud that our displaced workers scheme helps care providers, like @quarriers who I visited today, retain skilled staff.

Many people will likely be unaware of the number of younger people who are in an unpaid caring role. Many thanks @CarersTrustScot @CarersTrust for this post to help highlight the challenges they can face. @HSCPshire @quarriers @barnardos @CPAberdeen
"Young carers don't have time to see their friends, play or do something creative."
There could be around 1 million young carers in the UK who face this reality every day.
That's why we're bringing together people working across services for children and adults for our Young Carers Futures Conference.
Join us on Thursday 23 October and help lead the change our young carers need.

Week 4 of Fit & Fed is off to a busy start! Today we welcomed back @fire_scot, and our young Buddies got to explore, ask questions, and learn how they keep us safe. 🚒 Later, our older kids enjoyed a workshop with our new partners, @quarriers. It was that good they almost didn’t want to go back to the football! ⚽

Last year, we invited our members to share the reasons why they value social care and support. ✏️
Every Friday, we share one of their messages. This week’s is simple but true:
“People matter!”

ALT An image showing a white card tilted on a purple background, with illustrations of loudspeakers and circles in the corners. At the top of the card there is a heading in purple which reads, ‘I value social care and support because…’ and underneath, a handwritten message in dark green, which reads: ‘People matter!’ The messages are from a CCPS event in May 2024 at which members’ views on the true value of social care were captured. CCPS is sharing the messages to promote the voice of our members and raise awareness of the true value of social care.
