The conditions allowing for the safe return of Ms. Machado to Venezuela is the direct result of the U.S. supported reconciliation talks which has already seen hundreds of political prisoners freed and hundreds of political opposition figures return from exile.
The United States expects the freedoms of all sectors of Venezuelan politics to continue to be respected. Likewise, we expect all political actors to support these talks which represent the best chance Venezuela has had in thirty years to peacefully achieve not just a free and fair election but an enduring democracy.

This historic opportunity must include genuine reconciliation and the restoration of rights for all sectors.
On behalf of the ≈23,000 former PDVSA workers (Comunidad Petrolera) unjustly dismissed in 2002-2003 — now aged 60 to 83 — we have previously submitted detailed letters (July 23, August 12 and subsequent follow-ups) requesting attention to longstanding labor and humanitarian issues: pensions, health coverage and outstanding liabilities.
We propose a Comprehensive Phased Reparation Plan funded exclusively from industry recovery (not U.S. taxpayers). Including these experienced professionals in transition working groups would strengthen democracy, heal society and accelerate oil-sector recovery.

I am one of the approximately 23,000 former PDVSA workers who were illegally dismissed, blacklisted, and systematically persecuted beginning in 2002-2003 (“Comunidad Petrolera”), and who continue to suffer ongoing political retaliation and human rights violations to this day.
I fully support and join the formal humanitarian letter from the Asociación Petro Amigos de Venezuela that I am attaching in the images below.
Together with my fellow victims, I respectfully request recognition of our political persecution, humanitarian relief, and consideration of our confiscated social benefits, life savings, and pensions.
