நாகப்பட்டினம் சந்திப்பின் 165+ ஆண்டுகள் பழமையான கட்டிடம் மற்றும் மேற்கூரை அகற்றப்பட்டு வருகிறது, 1859இல் தெற்கு ரயில்வே தொடங்கப்பட்டது இங்குதான் 1859-1880 வரை அதன் தலைமையிoklடம் இதுதான்!! ட்ரோன் மூலம் எடுக்கப்பட்ட காட்சிகள்!!

பணிகளுக்காக,165 ஆண்டுகள் பழமையான
1861இல் கட்டப்பட்ட ரயில் நிலைய கட்டிடம்
மற்றும் அதன் அடையாளங்களில் ஒன்றான
மிகப்பெரிய மேற்கூரைகள் இடிக்கப்படுகிறது. தெற்கு ரயில்வேயின் முதல் தலைமையிடம் இங்குதான் 1859-1880 வரை செயல்பட்டது. சென்னை எழும்பூர்,சென்னை சென்ட்ரல் மற்றும் நாகப்பட்டினத்தில் தான் இந்த வகையான மிகப்பெரிய இரும்பு தூண்களினால் ஆன மேற்கூரைகள் ஆங்கிலேயர்களால் அமைக்கப்பட்டது. பல பெரிய புயல்கள் மற்றும் சுனாமியை எதிர்கொண்டு இன்னும் உறுதியாக நின்ற இந்த மேற்கூரைகள் இப்போது நாகப்பட்டினம் ரயில்நிலையத்தின் அடுத்தக்கட்ட வளர்ச்சிக்காக அகற்றப்படுகிறது. ஒருபக்கம் இது வருத்தமாக இருந்தாலும் ரயில்நிலையத்தின் வளர்ச்சிக்காக இது தவிர்க்கமுடியாததாக உள்ளது. நடைமேடையில் உள்ள பழைய மேற்கூரையை மட்டுமாவது தெற்கு ரயில்வே அப்படியே பராமரித்தால் நன்றாக இருக்கும். Southern Railway has now achieved a major milestone by completing the electrification of its entire Broad Gauge (BG) network covering 5,068 Route Kilometres (RKM) across the Zone. With the successful completion of electrification works on the final 71 RKM section between Pattukkottai and Karaikkudi, Southern Railway has attained 100% electrification of its Broad Gauge network.
The Boat Mail Express operated between Madras Egmore and Dhanushkodi from 1914 to 1964. With a single ticket to Colombo, passengers could travel from Madras (now Chennai) to Colombo using three modes of transport. The journey began by train from Chennai Egmore to Dhanushkodi, continued by ferry from Dhanushkodi to Talaimannar, and concluded with another train journey from Talaimannar to Colombo Fort.
This unique through-service came to an end after the devastating 1964 Dhanushkodi cyclone, which destroyed the town and left Dhanushkodi a ghost town. #Chennai #Dhanushkodi #Colombo #mannar #Rameshwaram

Aftermath of Dhanushkodi super cyclone 1964!! Dhanushkodi Cyclone was regarded as one of the most powerful storms on record to strike India!! It destroyed the entire Dhanushkodi town on the night of December 22,1964 with wind speed gusts upto 280km/hr!!
