Never has a bad take fit a meme more perfectly.
its just bonkers the new policy @airbnb is trying to put in place. Putting the dishes in the dishwasher, taking out the trash, pulling the sheets off the bed....they are just standard things any normal person would do when staying at a house. Why wouldn't a host be allowed to say that?

AirBNB had its place and time, but it’s over. Had a lovely stay at a Hyatt last night, left trash in the can, towels on the ground, and am confident my corporate overlord isn’t going to light me up with a guest review video. A professional exchange of goods for money. The AirBNB hosts did this to themselves and the platform lost control long ago.

In the end, it's simple: You either trust your engineers, or learn to think like them.
It's one or the other. You can't demand explanations from your engineers for a lack of trust if you're not willing to engage in, well... engineering.
- Communicate the decision making process like an exec. They don't like it, force you to consider something else, apply engineering to the new option and they get lost again.
Either way, it's YOUR problem as an engineer for not subsidizing enough *their* understanding.
Good advice. Except that it completely falls apart when people asking for decisions want the *reasons* for them.
Then you either:
- Communicate like an engineer to arrive to the decisions, but execs can't handle it mentally
or...
