VIDEO | Delhi: Artist and photographer Raihan Vadra, son of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Robert Vadra, says the Bikaner House administration pulled down several of his photographs of recent Delhi protests ahead of his solo exhibition.
He says, "Yesterday at 6.00 PM, I was approached by the Bikaner House management over the phone, saying that some of the photos I was planning to display were objectionable and against their policy. I said, okay, let me know what the photos are, give me the reasoning, give it to me in writing, because I am not inclined to remove those photos immediately until you give me a full explanation. I didn't hear back from them till yesterday afternoon. Yesterday afternoon, they told me first that their team came to see the show and complimented me on the photos. Then later in the afternoon, I got a call from the Deputy Resident Commissioner, who said we have to remove all those photos. I said, please give it to me in writing. They were refusing to give it to us in writing. Then the Principal Resident Commissioner came. He walked through the show with me and basically said that the context and timing of displaying these pictures was incorrect and that I had not shared these pictures with them before. I said that I had shared a layout with these images a week earlier. They then said that the layout was not legible and they couldn't read it. I said, but then you could have told me six days ago. You're telling me four hours before my show, what am I going to do?"

When atrocity is flashed across our screens like daily content, the human brain develops a defense mechanism: tactical numbness. We scream for three days, type out righteous paragraphs on social media, and then quietly crawl back to our routines. Why? Because staying white-hot angry in India is a luxury that exhausts the soul. The political machinery banks on this exact fatigue. They know our outrage has a 72-hour expiration date, while their power is permanent.
Little girls in this country are raised to survive, not to demand justice. When we grow up watching state machinery beat down grieving parents at midnight, when we watch accused men sit comfortably in Raj Bhavans, a heavy, deadening psychology takes root.. Nothing will ever change. We internalize the defeat long before we ever step out to protest.
Does Anything Change or Will Anything Ever Change?
Every time a daughter’s body is pulled from a canal, burned in a field at 2:30 AM, or dragged across asphalt, the system offers us the same rehearsed routine. We get outrage, press conferences, fast-track courts for low-level perpetrators, and eventually, quiet constitutional rewards for the powerful.
The system doesn't change because it wasn't built to protect women; it was built to protect itself.
The Theater of Amnesia
Nothing changes as long as justice remains a PR exercise managed by the state, and nothing will change as long as we allow our outrage to expire on a 72-hour news cycle.
Until we stop settling for the illusion of closure while the untouchable elite take their oaths in Raj Bhavans, every woman in this country is just waiting her turn to be forgotten.

The BJP has turned exams into a business.
PET exams are conducted every year, but where are the vacancies that actually require PET scores?
This exam has become nothing but a money-making racket.
Now, the Yogi government is going to squeeze students even more through UP Transport by sending them to exam centres hundreds of kilometres away.
When it comes to voting, polling booths are right outside your homes.
But when it comes to exams for government jobs, exam centres are 500 km away.
When people set out on the Kanwar Yatra, flowers are showered on them from helicopters.
But when students travel to take exams, the government won't even waive a single rupee of their bus fare.
This is the BJP's model of governance: grand gestures for publicity, but not even basic support for students fighting for their future.
