Replying to @owenjonesjourno
I don’t have to “engage” with antisemitism Owen. I see it all around me. & I see people like you who would never rubbish a report on the prejudice faced by any other minority, going out of your way to do it to Jews because your political agenda demands it. You used to be better.

I've warned many times about suspicious fundraising campaigns exploiting the suffering of people in Gaza.
Yesterday, I came across another deeply concerning case, promoted by several large accounts.
They were asking for $3,000 within 72 hours to supposedly secure a medical evacuation for a patient from Gaza.
What happened when I questioned the story was even more concerning.
When I challenged the claim, the campaign organizer told me that the evacuation would cost $17,000:
$12,000 covered by a delegation.
$2,000 covered by a hospital.
$3,000 to be paid by the patient.
They also named the WHO and the Red Cross as the primary sponsors.
This is an extremely serious claim. Neither organization charges patients for its humanitarian services.
As a doctor from Gaza familiar with medical evacuations, I asked for the doctor's contact details and, with the patient's consent, a medical referral so I could verify the case directly with Gaza's Ministry of Health.
Instead of providing the requested information, the account blocked me.
Let me explain why this raises so many red flags.
Here is how medical evacuation from Gaza actually work:
A doctor refers a patient for treatment unavailable in Gaza. A medical referral committee reviews the case and determines its priority.
The approved patient is placed on a waiting list alongside thousands of others.
A receiving country must agree to provide treatment, and Israeli security clearance is required. WHO then coordinates the evacuation.
The patient is contacted when arrangements are confirmed.
The evacuation is FREE. There is no $17,000 evacuation fee and no payment to WHO to secure a place.
I know that corruption and bribery can exist around desperate attempts to leave Gaza. But that is not the official medical evacuation process, and no one should confuse the two.
A supposed payment contract, a 72 hour deadline, and claims involving WHO and the Red Cross demand evidence, not blind trust.
And to the large accounts promoting such appeals: having thousands of followers does not absolve you of responsibility.
If you ask people to donate, VERIFY THE STORY FIRST.
Every dollar collected through a misleading appeal is a dollar that could have helped someone genuinely in need.
Gaza's suffering is not a business opportunity.

The Bank of England has raised interest rates to 4%, supposedly to tackle inflation.
There is just one problem with this decision. The Bank knows that much of the inflation we are suffering is being driven by rising oil and energy prices, largely resulting from conflict in the Middle East.
It also knows that raising interest rates cannot reduce those prices.
So why is it doing this?
The answer is that the Bank believes it must suppress demand elsewhere in the economy to compensate for rising energy costs.
In other words, it is deliberately making mortgages more expensive, increasing business borrowing costs, discouraging investment and reducing household spending power.
And all this when people are already struggling with higher energy bills. That is problem number one.
There is, however, another problem. Higher interest rates increase costs for businesses, which can then feed through into higher prices. They can, in that case, add to inflation rather than reduce it.
The Bank is imposing economic pain to address a problem its chosen policy cannot directly solve.
That is not sound economic management. It is the consequence of an economic dogma that refuses to recognise the difference between inflation caused by excessive demand and inflation caused by supply shocks.
When will we learn?

The Chief Rabbi of the State of Israel, Rabbi David Yosef said today that the Palestinian people do not exist, do not have rights, that it is good that Gaza was destroyed and that with the help of God, all of Gaza and the West Bank will be Jewish soon. The Jewish religion is being used as a tool of genocide. This is not a fringe rabbi. This is the most important rabbi in Israel.

This is a really important interview by Rivkah Brown in Zeteo with Kenneth Stern, who helped draft the predecessor to the IHRA Working Definition.
He's adamant that the IHRA should be dumped, even as an academic and monitoring tool. He's very clear it is so "poisoned" it should never be used in schools, as the government is now planning to do based on the Bell review.
This is what Stern says:
“I think it’s become so poisoned now that I wouldn’t use it primarily for [data collection] or any other purpose...The track record of IHRA in the U.S., Germany, Australia and, yes, the UK has been to use [the IHRA definition] to label pro-Palestinian speech” – including that of pro-Palestinian Jews – “as officially antisemitic."

Human rights experts have long warned that the repression of anti-apartheid/anti-genocide protests REVEALED a system in which Israel's apartheid inspires western democracy: rights for some; punishing criticism\dissent; securitizing/militarizing life; tolerance of racist ideology.
My country, France, is sinking further each day into a system of governance that is authoritarian and destructive to liberty.
Placing activists who oppose their government’s policies under house arrest is an attempt to intimidate and frighten any form of dissent.
Equating their activism with terrorism is revolting, scandalous, and reminiscent of the worst authoritarian regimes around the world.
Resistance is more necessary than ever to defend the values of liberty and solidarity in our country.
