In 2005, I started a lorry transport business specializing in building materials. I had graduated from taxi business. My three lorries were sold to me by a friend of a friend completely on very little installment based on trust & my good image. By 2020, I was boasting of about 20 trucks. 17 years later in 2022, I wound the business. No money on the business account and no lorry in the parking space. In case you are new in the business & intend to start one, these are the things that crushed mine. 1. The COVID-19 two-year spell. Building material transportation was allowed to operate. But, I had limited supervision even when I was a police boss that was considered essential worker. I couldn’t tell where the lorries were. Some drivers leased out the vehicles to cement factories & were paid while they lied to me that the vehicles were parked. The stone boulders plus long distances from Karamoja wrecked the lorries. In 2 years, the highest amount I could sell the vehicle was 10m out of a possible 150m. 2. Drivers change tyres & replace them with old ones. Instead of tyres lasting 7 months and more, the 10 tires are changed twice or thrice in a year. 3. Drivers will hire out the vehicle to other unauthorized drivers who don’t care about the safety of the vehicle. They will drive day and night while you get nothing. One time, I woke up & saw a picture of my vehicle “resting”in someone’s home. It had failed to brake & rammed into someone’s home. Fortunately, no one was hurt. I was surprised to be told it was being driven by a third person & had paid for new brakes a week before. 4. You will find your vehicle parked on the road. “What’s the problem you ask”? “Afande it could not break”. After a bit of mechanical check the following day, you’re told that while it was parked, someone came & stole a starter system valued at 5m. What?😳 5. Every trip of sand the driver carries say from Lwera, is full board capacity. Then 1/4, is removed & powered at the drivers’ mound of sand somewhere in the city. Later, he starts carrying his own sand but will tell you he parked the lorry then whole day because he was sick or the vehicle had a fault. All the money made is his. 6. You will be called that NEMA enforcement found your lorry in a swampy area. They need 2m fine or pay a bribe of 500k. This happens to be connivance with your driver. You pay the bribe and they share. 7. Repairs are the most pocket ripping venture. You’re told this and that is faulty. You can’t be driving to garages all the time. Even if you went & bent your knee under the carriage of your lorry, you won’t tell a faulty propeller shaft from a good one. Either the vehicle is not faulty or the cost of spare parts is exaggerated. 7. The taxes. Do I need to say anything about this? You’re assessed money that buys a new truck in domestic taxes. All the time your vehicle was in garage, you should have notified URA. Tell me, which driver does this? So, all the small profit you made, is taken away by the taxman. 8. I swear, it’s like no truck in Uganda is supposed to last a year without terrible accidents. You’re always compensating for killing dogs, goats, destruction of houses, cars, or Petro stations. Hew! 9. The driver declares any money he chooses. No question. He calls for the shots. Not you. 10. If you buy a truck at 200m & it works for a week, it has lost value of 100m if you wish to sell it. Which business is this that makes assets depreciate in a week? My post is not meant to discourage you, but to give you background information so that you mitigate against these before you venture into this business. Do I talk too much? May be not!

Ozempic is just causing all the issues

A fair expansion of my earlier advice to a sister, Amooti Nyanjura is... The way to strengthen it is to separate what is morally arguable from what is politically and culturally wise to fight in public right now. I am not telling my sister that women have no voice, or that Tooro is beyond criticism. I'm saying three things. A kingdom is not a ministry, an NGO, or a party manifesto. It is a living institution whose legitimacy rests on custom, memory, and belonging. A young woman building a national political career cannot treat every cultural rule as an injustice to be denounced online without cost. Human rights include cultural rights. That means the Batooro also have a right to keep the rules that make the Omukama their king, not a generic celebrity husband. That last point is the one many feminist arguments skip. Cultural rights protect a community’s capacity to define identity through language, clans, marriage rules, and succession. They are not a veto on every other right. But they are also not optional folklore. Why the succession rule is not just “anti-woman” In Tooro, kingship is not only father-to-son biology. Maternal clan has historically mattered because the mother’s people are the child’s political and ritual base. Elders have said an heir should be born of a mother from a recognised Tooro clan. The new Omugo, Rebecca Amoding, can be queen as the king’s wife; that does not automatically place her children in the line of succession. To an equality mind, that looks like punishing a woman for her tribe and punishing a child for the mother. To the kingdom, it looks like protecting the throne from becoming detachable from Tooro clans. Those are two different moral languages. If you my dear Doreen only speaks the first, you will sound as if you want to redesign Tooro from outside it. The question is not whether a non-Mutooro wife is a full human being. She is. The question is whether the crown is a private family asset or a communal office bound to Tooro’s clan map. Kingdoms usually answer the second way. Republics answer the first. Mixing the two without care produces either humiliation of the wife or erosion of the institution. Why “leave some issues alone” is not cowardice Some fights are right in principle and wrong in timing, forum, and method. The kingdom has just buried a young king and installed another after a bitter succession quarrel. Public lectures on rewriting maternal eligibility now sound like reopening a wound, not reforming a constitution. The person who looks like the target is a newly installed queen from another community. Even if Doreen means “reform the rule,” many Batooro will hear “this outsider’s child should take our throne.” That is how ethnic politics starts. Radical redesign of royal succession rarely stays academic. In Tooro’s own history, succession fights have involved maternal clans, rival princes, and instability. Change that is not owned by the Babiito, the Orukurato, and the palace will be read as an attack on the house, not as gender justice. So “best left alone” does not mean “never think about it.” It means: do not make a throne rule the hill on which a national career dies. Honour does not require silence about women’s dignity. It requires choosing the register. Hangiriza Omukama from you Amooti Doreen is not or wouldn't be surrender. It is the price of being heard inside the house rather than shouted at from the gate. A national leader must be able to hold two truths: a wife from Teso is not lesser; Tooro is still entitled to define who can carry its crown. If you can only hold one, you will look either tribal or culturally homeless. Online posts against “norms of your very culture” travel farther than private counsel. Opponents will not debate your theory of equality. They will say you do not respect your people. In Ugandan politics that charge is often fatal, fairly or not. The constructive path is work with the kingdom on what actually changes lives: 2 b Continued

Go away with your coveted manipulation and coercion - you are the hypocrites who cannot separate friendship and values - I can be your friend and still know right from wrong. Raymond can be committed to his culture and also be friends with the King. Two truths can exist.
Raymond, without getting into whether the alleged son exists, if you were truly the friend you claimed and held yourself out to be, there is a level of decorum you would observe, restraint you would exercise, and cynicism you would avoid. I am judging you only by those standards.

I have read Raymond’s post so many times, trying to understand what exactly he said wrong, and I still see nothing. I know how close Raymond was to the King, and I still don’t see what he has done wrong. I think you are being too partisan and emotional, to the point where anything that “seems to support” the new King is automatically treated as betrayal. Are you suggesting that Raymond should walk away from his tribal culture and customs and stop serving the Kingdom simply because he was King Oyo’s friend? You people need to step back and not tune other people’s principles.

For those who listened to President Museveni’s speech and care to use their brains, it was obvious that had there been a child, even a week old, with the slightest legitimate claim to the throne, Gen. Museveni would have done everything necessary to hold the coronation until that child could assume it. Yet some of you are still channeling the pain of your life's disappointments onto the throne of Tooro Kingdom. There was no baby. And the people of Tooro love their new Kingdom. Either way, this was never going to change your life. You still have alot of problems to worry about. So go back to it.
