Greatest baseball team ever.
The New York Yankees celebrate the final out — Game 4 of the 1998 World Series, Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego, October 21, 1998.
Andy Pettitte threw 7⅓ scoreless innings to outduel Kevin Brown, Mariano Rivera closed the 3-0 win, and the Series ended on a grounder to Scott Brosius — who hit .471 and took home the MVP award. The sweep sealed the Yankees' record 24th championship and a 125-50 overall record: 114 regular-season wins, an American League record, plus 11 more in October. No team had ever stacked that many wins in a single year.
⚾ 125 wins — will any team ever top it? 👇️

I ran a SuperPAC that supported @MalloryMcMorrow. This poll was used by several donors to pull back funding at a time we were being outspent by $80 million.

Russia has been the opposite of fine on Ukraine
Trump again spends the day praising Putin.
"Russia has been frankly fine on Ukraine"

I'm writing 14,000-word economic studies proposing to rein in Social Security & Medicare benefits in order to prioritize younger people instead.
Instead, I should just circulate people like this guy - he's doing more to undermine big boomer benefits than any studies I publish.
“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?”
Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century.

We’ve had lots of time already to assess the impact of sanctions. Putin will read this delay as a reprieve on his licence to kill

For years D.C. has held out hope that violence interruption programs would meaningfully decrease shootings and killings. A recent study finds they may have done the opposite. Now the fate of the entire initiative is up in the air, reports @jennygathright: washingtonsun.com/metro/dc-v…

So umpires are getting scrutinized and lambasted for missing pitches an 1/8” of an inch to an inch off the plate that really isn’t the plate as MLB only counts the back half of home plate. Imagine being told you are wrong by a computer that the pitch you called a strike because it caught the front half of the plate is actually a ball. Then getting crap from all the younger, nerdy generation because it’s so EZ to tell if a pitch is a strike at 100 mph or a ball from your fucking couch. Get a grip people. They won’t call the real zone because hitters would struggle more than they do now. Imagine that.
Not great. And the forecast in the email is better than some I've seen online. I guess we'll figure out pacing at the start 🤷♂️?
Getting a “less-than-ideal conditions for marathon running” email from the marathon itself five days before the marathon is not exactly the race week email I was hoping for @ChiMarathon

Boston hopefuls, how close were you to the 2027 cutoff?
The cutoff landed at 5:17, leaving 8,019 runners who met the qualifying standard out of the field...for now.
Qualified runners who missed the cutoff still have a chance of gaining entry through a new 1,000-runner random drawing.
