Reporting live from 'Public Impeachment of Gyanesh Kumar' happening at the residence of Leader of Opposition, Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge. MPs, concerned citizens and wrongly deleted voters have gathered here to hold Gyanesh Kumar accountable for SIR, the fraud on our #democracy! This impeachment should have happened in #Parliament, but last time the Opposition MPs brought a notice to initiate impeachment proceedings against Gyanesh Kumar in April 2026, it was rejected by Speaker, LS and Chairman, RS. What cannot happen in actual Parliament is now happening in people's Parliament. Follow this #thread for updates!

Imagine the ABSOLUTE MAYHEM on TV news if this ghastly crime was committed by a person from the Muslim community in Lucknow. The superstar godi anchors would have happily laid the grounds for multiple lynchings of innocent muslims as a result.

WATCH: youtu.be/7gb_03z2hTE?si=ea_q… From Madhu Limaye and Anna Hazare to Medha Patkar and anti-CAA protesters, successive Congress and BJP governments have invoked preventive-security laws against political dissenters. The Modi government promised to do away with colonial-era criminal laws. Yet Section 107 of the CrPC survived as Section 126 of the BNSS. Now, as Neha Bora challenges peace-bond proceedings, a larger question emerges: Who decides what constitutes a threat to public peace? And can refusing to sign a bond land you in jail? @hey_eshwar traces the politics of peace bonds, from British rule to present-day India. 110 years ago, Tilak questioned the British government's attempt to make him sign a bond. Today, Neha Bora is raising similar questions in independent India. Governments have changed, but the need to question those in power hasn't. And that's exactly what we do at The Quint. We question everything. But to keep doing that, we need you by our side. Become a member of The Quint. Because the right to question is worth fighting for: thequint.com/plan-selection?…

Regular reminder that this is blatantly illegal. Indian election law makes it clear that voter rolls are to be drawn up by the ERO -- not by Delhi. And this was bought to the SC's notice. But it just blindly believed the EC and allows the process to continue. India's courts are unable to do the most basic job of judicial review -- of making sure the text of a law is adhered to. We live in a moger mulluk, lawless land. scroll.in/article/1095954/be…
West Bengal SIR - an important chapter - unveiled by @chhuti_is today for @thewire_in "Everything being done by Delhi"? The "BLO app changed 16 times" "Every morning we would find that another new instruction had arrived". Chaos to meet what end? Max exclusions?

Jamia student leaders Zeeshan and Faizan are finally out of Tihar Jail. The police tried to crush the Students’ Union movement by jailing its leaders. But the students won their demand. The leaders are free and Union is Loading. Jamia’s student democracy has prevailed!

This tweet sounds like an old Hindi song, "Bhala hai, bura hai, Jaisa bhi hai, mera Pati mere devta hai...."
Indian democracy like every other democracy survives because of institutions. A vital one is the Election Commission. However flawed the Chief Election Commissioner he cannot be impeached by ‘the public’. The Congress party should desist from going ahead with this childish charade.

Thousands of fake voters were inserted into the voter rolls in Pilibhit through fraudulent Form 8 applications after the SIR in Uttar Pradesh. We found that ECI’s rules and software leave voter rolls across India vulnerable to Pilibhit-like fraud. 1/3 reporters-collective.in/trc/…

Indian democracy survives not merely because institutions exist but because they retain public trust and remain accountable. The Election Commission is no exception. Constitutional protection for the CEC is meant to safeguard the independence of his office and not shield him from public scrutiny. Citizens certainly have the right to question Gyanesh’s conduct and express their loss of confidence. Dismissing democratic dissent as a childish charade is in itself childish. Democracy is not endangered when citizens question institutions. It is endangered when those institutions are treated as beyond question.

It is alarming that almost a hundred years after Dr. Ambedkar burnt the Manusmriti, our courts are citing it while making judicial decisions. Manusmriti endorses caste-based oppression, untouchability and exclusion, social segregation and subordination of women. The courts are supposed to uphold the Constitution, not the Manusmriti that harks back to the past.

BJP is a party of illiterate jokers. 1. BJP supporters day and night call Sikhs Khalistani. 2. 700 farmers were murdered by this govt during the protest, but Ranga said "Mere liye thodi mare hain". 3. They never held a protest for Sikhs on Nov 1st since 1984. 4. They never made sure culprit of anti sikh riot gets punishment. They are doing all these dramas because their crime of murdering democracy has been exposed.

#WATCH | Delhi: Lok Sabha LoP and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi says, "Now you watch what happens at Ramlila Ground. You watch how many people come, and you watch how many people they manage to stop, and you will understand what is going on in this country. Huge anger, huge emotional pain, because millions of people are being disenfranchised. Their vote is being stolen from them to help Mr Adani, Mr Ambani, Mr Modi, Mr Shah, and Mr Mohan Bhagwat. As we said before, this is not multiple protests. This is one protest. The entire opposition is standing here. Anybody who wants to protest, any person, is welcome to come here. We are all standing together because we are defending the Constitution. We are defending the idea of India. We are defending the vote, which is the expression of all Indians."

Modi Regime Is the Real Tukde-Tukde Gang Following the protests in Arunachal Pradesh against the Siang Dam project, Modi bhakts have found a new enemy and a new community to vilify. Social media is awash with calls to crush the protests, repress the protesters and even ethnic cleansing of the communities resisting the project. Predictably, the protesters are also being branded as “foreign-funded”. This is the modus operandi of the Modi regime and its propaganda machinery. Whenever people protest in defence of their rights, they are demonised and portrayed as enemies of the nation. Over the past decade, the Modi regime has systematically targeted and alienated communities and groups that refuse to fit into its Hindutva narrative. Last year, it was the people of Ladakh who faced a vicious campaign of vilification when they raised legitimate demands for statehood and the protection of their land and identity. More recently, following the NEET student protests, the BJP launched a campaign to discredit protesting students by branding them “Dimagi Naxals”. Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave speeches from the Red Fort and at educational institutions to target the protesters and label them “Dimagi Naxals”. BJP official handles called for violence against students. The pattern is unmistakable. When Muslims protest, they are branded Pakistanis. When farmers take to the streets, they are called Andolanjeevis. Sikhs are labelled Khalistanis. Adivasis resisting dispossession or state violence are branded Naxalites. Kerala is compared to Somalia. Women and Dalits who challenge the establishment are subjected to abuse and vilification by the regime’s IT Cell. Even the conflict in Manipur, which has resulted in enormous suffering and bloodshed, is the consequence of the Modi regime’s divisive agenda of pitting one community against another. In each of these cases, the toolkit remains the same. Discredit the protesters, invent foreign conspiracies and turn citizens into enemies. Then use the manufactured hostility to justify repression and silence dissent. To protect its power, the regime turns citizens against one another. In this sense, the Modi regime has inherited the British colonial playbook of “divide and rule”. The real threat to India's unity is not the people who protest against injustice. It is the politics that turns Indians against one another. It is time to identify and isolate the real tukde-tukde gang.
