The behaviour in Gordon House yesterday was disgraceful and must be unequivocally condemned. Opposition MP Phillips unleashing unbecoming language, moving aggressively toward a colleague, and requiring physical restraint is unacceptable. It brings Parliament into disrepute and cannot be tolerated. If we look to our leaders for leadership, is this the best we have to offer? What example do we dare set for our younger ones?
While the Government’s reference to Standing Order 38 to close the debate was within the rules, it must never use its majority unduly to shield itself from scrutiny. An explanation of Jamaica’s abrupt shift to abstain on the Cuba embargo resolution, subject to rigorous scrutiny, is needed - and the legislative chamber is the proper place for that. The Government would do well to reflect on this and on whether it exercises its majority and procedural powers fairly, even when acting within the letter of the standing orders.
That does not, however, justify disorder, threats or conduct that undermines the institution. The Opposition must continue to challenge what it sees as the unfair use of numbers - through substantive and reasoned argument and proper procedure - not by descending into scenes that disgrace the House.
JUST IN: Vice President JD Vance is blaming the Iran war for Republicans' sweeping midterm defeat as Democrats seize control of Congress.
"The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night."
Vance says the party also needs to confront voters' cost-of-living frustrations, its America First priorities and its relationship with Israel.
He acknowledges those who warned Republicans about the political consequences, saying they have every right to say, "I told you so."
The fallout is now raising questions about the party's direction and the political cost of the war heading into 2028.

🚨ABDUL EL-SAYED TROLLS JD VANCE AND TRUMP IN HIS VICTORY SPEECH:
EL-SAYED: JD. Habibi. There is this delicious irony in the fact that you're constitutionally obligated to swear me in in January.
So you know what that means, Wolverine one, Buckeyes zero.
Donald, look, I, I know you, you struggle with my name, so after JD swears me in in January, you can just go on and call me Senator.

ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl interviewed the Secret Service agents who were with Trump the day of his “attempted assassination” — and they revealed things that should raise some red flags…
First, after Trump was “shot,” the agents immediately tackled them and told him to STAY DOWN as they piled on top of him — worried the bullet might keep coming.
Trump IGNORES them and, instead, starts wrestling against them to stand up so he can clench his fist towards the crowd and appear “tough” — putting his and all Secret Service agents’ lives in danger.
Then, when they’re safely in a car, one agent remembers Trump asking, “How did that look?”
An unusal first reaction to coming “within millimeters” of your death… 🤔
