Curious about where your "direct traffic" in Google Analytics is actually coming from? In addition to people entering your URL in the browser, it can also come from other sources, like "dark social" and apps.

The best way I've found to research where that traffic is coming from is backlink research tools. @semrush and @ahrefs are some of the best tools for this - they can show you sites that are linking to yours, and whether they are using NOREFERRER tags (as well as NOFOLLOW)

NOFOLLOW, btw, tells Google not to pass domain authority (AKA "link juice") to your site. If you can get high ranking sites to remove that tag, it can be a nice boost to your SEO efforts. Happy Hunting.
