Back 40 years... May 1984 pay of £731 after tax inflates to £2628 plus free laundry and free room. BUT it was 4 months 1:2 and 2 months 1:1 with no leave allowed during the 6 month contract (extra money after finishing instead). Free time ~zero so disposable income/hr felt good

I've been leaked a letter... rcoa.tiiny.site
👉 letter to @RCoANews Council & Trustees outlining concerns with plan to sell Churchill House signed by 26 ex-Trustees, Presidents, Deans... & more
👉 critical appraisal of College finances
Time for some reading...
#RCOA EGM technology fail. Looks like outsiders are accidentally disenfranchised, probably by settings - we are locked out from the chatroom and all mic are disabled. RCOA tec team might be able to sort?
Great difficulty signing into #RCOA EGM. I prevailed but worry that others might give up...
Well done folks!

I finally made it into the daily mail for lecturing in a loud shirt (Orlebar Brown, bought in their sale last year), barefoot, while at a conference in Portugal, on my annual leave, at no cost to the NHS. CEPD for doctors is compulsory and the conference was organised long before the strikes, so not “convenient”.
Bizarre phasing of shingles vaccine rollout. OK if you are 65 or 70 but years of waiting if 66, 67, 68, 69... @KateHosker

As I was going to South Mimms
I met a man with seven bins
Each bin had seven sacks
Each sack had seven twats
Each twat sold seven lies
Lies about bins and twats in a sack
This is the story of Rishi Sunak.

Break ! 354 MPs endorse, just 7 against report on Johnson's lies 👇
British democracy at last world-beating again (as he would say) - standing up against the lies at the very heart of his totally unBritish brand of populism. Good riddance to it and to him.
There's life in the Old Geek yet.....
This afternoon one of our daughters rang with an Excel problem that she just couldn't crack.... Cue a Zoom call and shared screen with Dad and... problem solved. This was immensely gratifying....!
BT WiFi engineer came round today. Saw the #BJA paper I'm reviewing on my screen. He'd heard about #anaesthesia on BBC Radio 4 and wanted to talk about slow waves in the EEG... Cool! #RCoA #AAGBI

🚨Culture Wars Latest: Censoring UK’s most trusted voice on nature is shocking dereliction of BBC’s duty to public service broadcasting. It CANNOT allow truth on nature depletion to be victim in cynical culture wars stoked by populist Ministers #WildIsles theguardian.com/media/2023/m…

Great work at the Beeb. Screwing over Attenborough and Lineker in one day. Absolutely top class. Next kill Santa Clause.
Am I deeply sad? Binge watching Drive to Survive... Loving it! The golfing version really doesn't work! #DriveToSurvive

Fracture clinic
A planning application has been made to Plymouth City Council for a new building on the North West Quadrant for a replacement Fracture Clinic and Urgent Treatment Centre.
I had the good fortune to research and publish with Ed in 1993 in Michigan. A cool guy...
