Bullshit. Listen and realize this media moment is seriously misguided and misleading.

To the Leave campaign: accept these results and keep Alberta out of the NDP’s hands.
Notley and her caucus were worse for Albertans than Trudeau. Nenshi would plunge us into another decade of darkness.
Put the guns down. Stop fighting each other. Keep Alberta conservative.

Traci, that’s exactly the double standard I’ve been pointing out. The mayor is entitled to his opinion on the referendum, but so are Albertans who disagree with him. And municipalities are under provincial jurisdiction. I’d rather see the mayor focus on Calgary’s finances, infrastructure and the issues he was elected to address. There’s certainly no shortage of work to be done.
This post explains a lot… About the floor crossers of the conservative party of Canada.
They were all parachuted’ candidates. None having earned the support of actual members of the party.
That the conservatives continue in such a ridiculous pattern is concerning.
There’s plenty of time for proper nomination processes, which in turn can build up a party and its Membership engagement in a very healthy way… and most importantly, nominate candidates that are loyal to the party and it’s members!

Yup. This is not a fair and equitable way of running a great nation. How do we move to testing the West equitably?
This annual event brings conservative leaning thought leaders & activists together… this year will be especially interesting with both the pro & con voices on Alberta independence!

The majority of Albertans detest socialism. But we do not have the luxury of splitting the non-socialist vote. If your kids get crushed by an NDP government in Alberta, it will be thanks to these self-righteous and selfish pursuits. I invite Mr. Rath to debate me on this.
A grassroots push to oust Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is gaining steam after the Highwood UCP board voted 14-4 against her leadership.
Another 22 constituency boards must follow to trigger a leadership vote.
Smith won 91.5% support in 2024.

SMITH HAS TO GO!
This $4 million the Danielle Smith-led Alberta government is putting into an advertising campaign to help the federalist side in the Alberta referendum is a betrayel tantamount to Smith's famous floorcrossing incident from years ago. I'd hoped she had learned her lesson regarding betraying her base.
Such a shame. She had so much potential. She'll suffer the consequences undoubtedly and end up sitting in a chair beside the utterly loathed Jason Kenney.
Such a shame.

SHOULD CALGARY SET UP A LOBBYIST REGISTRY?
I supported Councillor Clark's motion to explore a lobbyist registry for Calgary.
I moved an amendment to ensure the options that come back to Council will include HOW THE RULES WOULD ALSO APPLY TO ADMINISTRATION. Thank you to Councillor Johnston for seconding it. It passed 12-3.
Administration drafts the policy we vote on. Anyone lobbying us is also meeting with them. If the public wants real accountability, they should be able to see both.
To be clear, nothing is in place yet. This is a review, and options come back to Council later. When they do, I will not support a registry that applies only to elected officials and exempts Administration. And TRANSPARENCY SHOULDN'T COME WITH A MOUNTAIN OF PAPERWORK.

FACT CHECK:
Nenshi was FORCED by law to run a balanced budget in Calgary.
He didn’t like this and BEGGED Rachel Notley to change the rules to let him run deficits.
Calgary had the lowest taxes at the START of his time as Mayor.
By the end of his reign, he’d TRIPLED taxes.
Danielle Smith is right. She and I are nothing alike. I’m not corrupt, and I work for Albertans, not for wealthy insiders.
I believe in democracy for everyone, not only for separatists. I won’t mess with the electoral maps to cheat to win.
I have a strong track record of growing the economy and helping get pipelines built. I don’t pick fights. I win them.
I passed 11 straight balanced budgets with the lowest residential taxes in the country. Calgary was named one of the best cities in the world when I was mayor.
I’ll fix the health care and education systems that this premier has broken so badly.
I will never take away your human rights and use the notwithstanding clause when the Charter of Rights is inconvenient.
And I will never gamble the future of our nation to save my own political skin.
That’s because I’m focused on the real priorities of Albertans, not on separatists and foreign billionaires.
Seems you hated the UCP both before and after. Maybe there is a valid reason for the drop in your sins support. Will you post when that comes through?
So @neudorf_ab my son’s AISH deposit was reduced by $400/month today. No letter explaining how they calculated the income exemption, nothing! Your #UCP govt can fuck right off!!!!
Most months he makes less than $500, so I was not expecting a $400 reduction!!!

You mean like their basket case economy, with extreme crime problems, such that businesses downtown have to lock their doors during the daytime… Or the part where they have a deficit such they receive annually a $5 billion equalization payment courtesy of Alberta?

Council voted on whether to reduce density on many former single-family lots.
Today, a developer can build 4 units plus 4 basement suites on one lot — 8 households. The proposal before Council would have reduced that to 3 units plus 3 basement suites — 6 households.
I voted YES to reduce the density. But we failed by one vote.
Eight households on a single residential lot simply outpaces the available parking and puts additional pressure on neighbourhood streets. Six households is a more balanced approach that still adds housing while better respecting the character and livability of existing communities.
Vote result is in the comments.

7 votes. For me it was 1 win. 1 near-miss.

Count suites towards density not recommended? Units are units whether they are above ground or below ground. Counting something is weak because it shows the truth of the density of people in an area?
