Raising a toast tonight to my good friend @plcowley who sadly passed away this weekend. Peter was an inspiration to me and many others. Peter you won't be forgotten. With love to Lies, Matt, Catherine and Miri. (This photo was taken just 5 weeks ago at his London book launch)

Please PLEASE don't make us stick on GMT all-year round
If we have to stick to one all year, make it BST for goodness sake.
Don't steal an hour of evening light for half the year...

When you dig into the hidden detail of the government's carbon capture and storage programme, the sheer scale of fiscal and environmental irresponsibility is hard to comprehend. We could be on the hook for £50 billion, with zero benefit. My column. 🧵 theguardian.com/commentisfre…

The rise of the killer cars.
Incredible statistics
"The heaviest US vehicles are responsible for 37 deaths in the other car per 10,000 crashes compared with 5.7 for median-weight cars and 2.6 for the lightest cars"
(The grey line shows the weight of your car more modestly reduces your own risk of death)

Support the County Council TRO to allow pedestrians, cyclists, buses, blue badge holders and taxis over the bridge. And not private motor vehicles, whose drivers will still be able to access all of Mill Road.
If not now - when?

Very disappointing to see a prominent local businessman encouraging pro-traffic people to make multiple submissions in the Mill Rd bridge consultation. Clearly not confident that they have the support of local people for their views (they don't).

Today’s review marks a huge step forward for UK spinout founders 🇬🇧
It adopts almost all of the policy reform proposals I made via @spinoutfyi and have been pushing on for 2 years.
A few thoughts on why this is a big day for the ecosystem and UK science&tech below:

This war on motorists, when's it beginning? Because every street round here is still almost entirely monopolised by the motor car. As are some of the pavements where neighbours' cars are longer than their front yards, so we have to walk in the road.

truly wild to live in a world where the wealthiest person alive is also the whiniest little baby
Twitter has had a massive drop in revenue, due to activist groups pressuring advertisers, even though nothing has changed with content moderation and we did everything we could to appease the activists.
Extremely messed up! They’re trying to destroy free speech in America.

Multiple advertisers have confirmed they are pausing spending while they see what direction Elon Musk takes with the platform.
"The growing exodus of advertisers comes amid concerns Musk will scale back misinformation and security protections on the platform."
