The International Day to Combat Islamophobia occurs amidst a rising tide of anti-Muslim hate.
Much of this disturbing trend is part of a wider pattern of attacks against religious groups & vulnerable populations.
We must unite to combat intolerance, stereotypes and bias.

On this Int’l Day to Combat Islamophobia, I endorse the strong words of the High Commissioner @volker_turk in urging States to urgently step up their efforts to combat intolerance against people based on religion or belief within the parameters of international human rights law.

Millions in Palestine and Israel will observe Ramadan during heightened tensions. The historic status quo of the holy sites must be respected & provocative actions must be avoided. We value Jordan’s custodianship of the holy sites. May this Holy Month bring peace. Ramadan Kareem.
