Good news. ISEA has been a serious forum for emerging media art for decades, and Dubai is a logical host given the planned Museum of Digital Arts. Will follow the programme announcements closely. #ISEA2026 #Dubai #Art

Just look at this *huge* courtyard social housing scheme inZurich Impressively there’s no central corridor. Instead there’s 15 individual stairs and lifts! This means most of the 210 homes are dual aspect, with views to the street and courtyard LΓΌtjens Padmanabhan Architects

Love this. The floor grid in the earlier tests already asked the question, so leaning into it makes sense. See you on the 11th.

The exceptional quality of roman concrete is the result of use of volcanic ashes from Vesuvius with lime. Even without the tiles protecting it, it resists to time and men.

OfoΓ©: ÈdΓ³ Messenger of Death β€”β€”β€”β€” Γ’foΓ© is one of the most prominent entity in Benin cosmology, he's not a god but a messenger who works nomstop in the abode of Ogiuwu the god of death. Benin cosmology view Γ²foΓ© as an entity without body and entity with only a head, Legs – which he use in pursuit of his victim, Arms – which he use to snatch life from them. ÈdΓ³ oral tradition recorded him as the younger brother of Amuafuan the entity whose duty like Γ²foΓ© is to snatch life, but unlike Γ²foΓ© who takes ones soul in peaceful way, Amuafuan snatch human souls through horrible circumstances. The name Γ’foΓ© means β€” It's Finish, as its the last thing any human sees, as they take their last breathe. πŸ–Ό:Chief Okpame,c.1930s..

People have treated social occasions as runways since antiquity. I keep thinking of the Roman mosaics that openly mock fashionable dress. Nothing new here, and hardly an invasion.
This is how I know Arab culture is coming to America. Do you think Dubai was created out of a vacuum? Middle eastern women ARE THIS WAY. A morning brunch is treated like a runway. Grocery shopping requires brand names. Hold on tight guys, this is the real invasion lmfao

Cross brooch from Lauchhelm πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ, circa 700 CE. "This cross brooch is decorated with 67 garnet, glass, and enamel inlays on a waffle-patterned gold foil. Golden bosses, imitating pearls, frame the edge. In the center is an antique carnelian cameo depicting the god of love, Cupid framed. It appears to be a custom-made piece with the maker possessing Mediterranean craftsmanship skills. The font framed through the chancel arch is a lovely composition. I love that members fund free shoots at churches and for craftspeople like this. Keeping you on the road is money well spent.
I press the shutter button, but these photographs are made by members. Without their support, the free shoots at churches, skilled crafts and historic buildings would not exist. Can you help support me and create the next image? See what membership makes possible - digest.andymarshall.co/geniu…

Look at the body, not the face. The face of Senusret III is lined, heavy-lidded and worn. The torso beneath it is smooth, young and strong. Had this been a portrait taken from life, both would have aged together. Instead the sculptors gave an old man’s face to a young man’s body, and that deliberate pairing is the real innovation. There is a second first here, and it is easy to miss. This is the earliest Egyptian king shown praying. He stands upright, hands open and laid flat on the front panel of the kilt, in an attitude of devotion rather than command. Three hundred years later, Hatshepsut had her own statues carved in exactly that pose, at the temple next door to this one.
