We are thrilled to have won the Publisher of the Year at the @litlivefest!
It is the best news to start our week with. A big thank you to our authors and readers for making this possible✨
Read somewhere that the animating spirit of the Nazis was not the strutting self-confidence, which came later, but dread-- that unless Germans take extreme steps they would be destroyed. Sanghis are a lot like that, afraid of everything incl the existential threat posed by essays

This is pretty much how most middle class Indians treat their domestic help. What goes around comes around.
My cousin recently joined a company, and the rules there are absolutely crazy.
He can't take a single paid leave for the first 6 months. If anyone isn't dressed formally, isn't properly groomed, or is even 10 minutes late, they deduct ₹1000 from their salary.
And here's the best part. They have to take at least one proper 15-minute client call after 7 PM, or it'll be considered a half-day. Basically, a way to force employees to stay longer.
And this is a pretty well-known, listed company.
Seems like they're making money by exploiting both their employees and their clients, who apparently aren't satisfied either.
It's honestly not hard to see why some Indian companies struggle to grow into big businesses. With this kind of cheap mindset, they care more about controlling employees than building a good company.

What a guy. What a guy. What a guy.

“Apparently, the solution to every crisis in 2026 is to hold a press conference about 1947. Our current Prime Minister has developed an extraordinary relationship with time. For every present failure, he takes you backwards. For every unfulfilled promise, he sends you to 2047. Fast fast forward. The only place he appears reluctant to stay is the present. And that, dear friends, is where you actually live.”

Bhakts keep calling me all sorts of names here: 'urban naxal' 'dirty/ugly leftist scum' 'Commie Bong whore'. So I thought I would lean into all this name calling and share a wonderful visual someone shared on Insta about all the things we have because of protests. Protests are indeed the lifeblood of a diminishing democracy.

Language isn't India's problem. It is crony capitalism, an out-of-control welfare state, a trashed education system, and religious bigotry in the central govt that is an insuperable obstacle to modernity.

This content creator insta @shrutii_gaurr reportedly received a legal notice from IRCTC after publishing a video showing allegedly poor-quality food being served on a train. The video, which went viral on social media, raised concerns about hygiene standards, food quality, and passenger services on premium railway routes.
The controversy sparked online debate, with many passengers sharing similar complaints about overpriced or unsatisfactory food served during train journeys. Supporters of the creator said such videos highlight real issues faced by passengers and push authorities toward accountability and service improvement. Critics, however, argued that viral clips can sometimes present isolated incidents without full context and may negatively impact the reputation of Indian Railways and IRCTC.
IRCTC and railway authorities have previously stated that strict action is taken against catering complaints and that misleading or incomplete videos regarding railway services can create unnecessary panic or misinformation.
What is your opinion on this?

I asked Curtis Sliwa "are you okay with losing and knowing you contributed to Mamdani's victory?"
I did my best to relay the concerns of capitalist america and used @BillAckman's tweet as a reference "a vote for Curtis Sliwa is a vote for Zohran Mamdani"
This was Sliwa's response.

On my SFO-Delhi flight today, the passenger next to me was a 25-year old Indian, IIT-Mumbai, earning almost $500K in an AI startup in Bay Area, heading home for Diwali.
During the 16h flight, he gulped down 11 beers. When the flight attendant refused to give him more than 3 beers, he requested me & my team (we had 3 people) to take it & give it to him, we did.
He then passed out after a few hours of drinking & unsurprisingly, wetted his pants. We had to move to diff seats for some time due to the smell! Needless to say, he did not even make eye contact after that.
An IIT grad earning nearly 4CR Rupees every year, living the American dream in Silicon Valley, unable to control his urge for a few free beers on a flight- unbelievable!
When will as Indians stop embarrassing ourselves in front of the whole world, especially as poor travellers.
