No trip to Singapore is complete without a meal (or 12) at its hawker centers, which sell multicultural dishes from generations-old recipes.
But rising costs and demographic change are threatening the beloved tradition. 🔗on.wsj.com/40a1hdB

So true. Reason alone to visit fascinating Singapore.
"Singapore is arguably one of the best food cities in the world, thanks in large part to its 121 hawker centers, which sell multicultural dishes from generations-old recipes."

i maintain that when it comes to variety and bang-for-buck, singapore is the greatest food city in the world—and that's all thanks to hawker centers. i ate everything in sight to learn about the future of this treasured (and endangered) tradition.

INCREDIBLE SCENES last night after Colombia fans surrounded hotel of the national team in Miami ahead of Copa America final against Argentina.
Around 300,000 Colombians reside in South Florida, which should make tonight's showdown a CONMEBOL Clasico. 🇨🇴

Incredible scenes at the final whistle here in Charlotte. Colombia, playing with 10 men for the entire second half, produced a performance full of guts & courage to beat Uruguay & reach the Copa America final. Some exceptional defending - special mention for Mojica. What a win 🇨🇴

We need to talk about Colombia.
We need to talk about the team unbeaten in 27 matches.
We need to talk about a country that finished a Copa America quarter-final like an exhibition match.
We need to talk about James Rodriguez, who is playing like it’s 2014.

I was one of the lucky ~80 to be chosen and wrote about it at the WSJ link below. In the paper this weekend.
Every year, the Faroe Islands, an archipelago in the North Atlantic, closes some of its most popular tourist sites and invites volunteers from around the world to build trails, put up signs and erect fencing. Here's why thousands of people want in. on.wsj.com/4e4ijOL
In 2019, the Faroe Islands went viral with a PR-meets-voluntourism campaign that saw the islands close tourist sites and invite volunteers to build trails, put up signs, etc. This year, I joined the fray to see what all the fuss is about.
