Unsurprisingly @Starlink is going to partner with terrestrial networks.
This is good! It means it can actually compete as a proper carrier and possibly fully replace your existing terrestrial/legacy cell carrier.
What happened to all of these people claiming that we were stupid and Starlink wouldn't need towers because their new spectrum could somehow penetrate buildings reliably from space?

Very excited for @Starlink Mobile. Will clearly need to partner with someone for indoor coverage and in dense outdoor urban environments (most cities).
Will be interesting to see if they partner with an existing carrier, MVNO, or become their own MVNO.
Someday there may be tiny Starlink repeaters across the country that handle indoor/outdoor coverage not directly from the sky, but there is no way Starlink can handle complete coverage from space right now. Have you ever tried using GPS in Manhattan?
They'll be able to solve this soon, but that day is not this day.

I’m just going to say the hard part out loud:
Apple has accomplished more in getting developers to optimize their apps for the iPhone Duo before it even launched than Android has managed in seven years of foldables.

Some stats on #php2shell. In the 10 hours before it was publicly announced, across the @Cloudflare network we saw thousands of attempts to exploit it. That jumped to tens of thousands in the 45 minutes post announcement, hundreds of thousands within 2 hours, and millions now.

So basically, today PHP got two critical bugs that let anyone run code on your server without even logging in, which is bad, and then the details leaked before the patch was even out, which is worse, and it works on WordPress and MediaWiki and Magento and Joomla and Laravel, and Censys says like 1.5 million servers are running a version with no fix, so the NSA was like "take your system offline," and the FBI was like "take your system offline," and CISA and the UK and CERT-EU were all like "take your system offline," and then the Prime Minister of Japan, the actual Prime Minister, posted at 5:55 in the morning telling 48.8 million people to take their system offline, so everyone took their system offline, like the Dutch cybersecurity agency took its own website offline, and the Dutch parliament went offline, and the Port of Rotterdam went offline, and Finland and France and Denmark started pulling government sites, and Wikipedia went down, and Archive.org went down, and Asana and GOG and Something Awful went down, and the University of Vienna's webmail went down for some reason, and that's just PHP. Because GitLab also dropped a CVSS 10.0, which is the highest score they give out, for a bug that's been there since 2014, so that's every self-hosted GitLab for twelve years, and then LiteLLM 1.107.0 got hijacked and shipped a credential stealer and a remote access trojan in every single wheel and the Docker images, including latest, and you didn't even have to import it, just installing it was enough, and it's the second time this year, and then Railway paused every deployment on the entire platform because someone got into the environment variables, so now everyone has to rotate every secret they've ever stored there, and TiDB Cloud said someone was walking around inside with stolen credentials for basically a month and an extortion group says they took 10.6 terabytes, and Zeabur got breached for the second time in two months and is just shutting down, like the whole company, and Node.js patched remote code execution and a TLS bypass, and CISA says Plex is being actively exploited, and someone took over 300 Tor exit relays to steal SSH passwords, and SafePay ransomware has hit over 600 critical infrastructure orgs, and India's biggest bank filed a data loss incident, and Japan has been in an official state of emergency in cyberspace since October 9, which honestly explains the 5:55 AM post. Oh, and eMudhra, a certificate authority that's issued over 60 million certificates, whose entire job is proving websites are who they say they are, was supposed to be using private keys that are random numbers over a hundred digits long, and one of them was 4. Just 4. And the others were like 66 and 237. Anyway, it's Wednesday.

After a week of testing, my in-depth iPhone Duo review is officially live on @gizmodo!
This is the most comprehensive review that I have written for Gizmodo. It's a real labor of love at over 7,200 words, but I hope it answers all your questions about the iPhone Duo!
An all-new iPhone like this doesn't come around every year, so I went hard on this review. (Maybe too hard.)
There's just so much to talk about in terms of the hardware and software
My colleague @adri_or_adriano also poured his heart and soul into the product photography. This is our best work for a review yet and, dare I say, the best product photography ever published on Gizmodo, in my opinion!
Pros:
✨Gorgeous nano-texture display
📖 Barely visible crease
👌 Smooth vari-angle hinge
📱Thoughtfully designed multitasking
⚡️ Powerful A20 chip
🔊 Terrific speakers
🔋 All-day battery life
✏️ Apple Pencil USB-C support
Cons:
💰 Expensive
🫥 Under-display camera stinks
🪨 Heavy
🔭 No optical telephoto
Touch ID instead of Face ID

Seeing the iPhone Duo next to the 18 Pro Max really puts things into perspective.
The Pro Max looks better for everyday one handed use, but unfold the Duo and it’s a completely different experience.
I’m making the switch. Which would you rather carry?
The "cookies" made by @crumbl are not food. They're sugar and oil with fake coloring and flavoring.
Are they competing for the most calories possible in as small of a package as possible?
Disgusting.
Crumbl’s website has a full ingredient list for every cookie. It just doesn’t show it to you.
Pick a store on their website and open the allergen page. What you see is a grid of checkmarks for milk, egg, wheat, soy and nuts, and a line that says additional nutrition information available upon request. What the page sends to your phone underneath that grid is a field called ingredientsList, one per cookie, that never gets drawn on the screen. I pulled this week’s lists from the Michigan Avenue store in Chicago this morning.
The Pink Sugar Cookie frosting is colored with red food coloring made of water, propylene glycol, Red 40, Red 3 and propyl paraben. FDA revoked Red 3 for food in January 2025, with a deadline of January 2027 to get it out. The chocolate chips in the Chocolate Chip Cookie are sugar, palm kernel fat, dry milk and cocoa powder with vanillin, which is a compound coating and not chocolate. The Tres Leches Cake starts from a boxed white cake mix. Most of this week’s cookies use imitation vanilla. The Dubai-Style Chocolate Brownie is 1,020 calories and 81 g of sugar, and that’s the number for one brownie, not a slice.
Restaurants don’t have to publish ingredients, so Crumbl is within the rules. It wrote the lists anyway, loaded them onto the page, and left them off the screen. Its sales were down about 70% from last year in August and at least 60 stores have closed this year.
Another ridiculously cool app coming to iPhone Duo: Battlefleet Duo.
I remember being so excited when Battleship first launched on iPhone and can't wait to play this reimagining of the classic.
When people say that Android has had foldables for years and the iPhone Duo is nothing special, it's important to show them things like this.
Nobody is excited for apps on Android. iPhone is where the excitement is at and new device formats are exciting on iPhone because people make cool apps that take advantage of them. This doesn't happen on Android.
