We all know Oxford Street is going to be huge success.
Let's just hope that @SadiqKhan has the conviction to return Soho to it's COVID glory before he leaves office.

A lot of people were predicting the Budget would derail Burnham and Healey
Replying to @RStruthers17
Healey's Budget is the most popular in our tracker since 2022.
33% of those who heard about it feel positive and 28% negative.
It's the first fiscal event we've polled where more positive than negative.

Just walking from Bloomsbury to New Oxford St today, at five sets of green lights for pedestrians was breached by speeding (male) cyclists. It's just a form of anonymised bullying. Time for action, @SadiqKhan ...
‘What wrong with you?’ Terrified pedestrian asks dangerous Lime bike rider skidding past her on pavement opposite St Thomas’s Hospital, London. Other pedestrians subjected to people riding bikes at speed & close passing them when they have green man to cross road. @ShabanaMahmood
Cyclists are the darlings of road safety campaigns. Are pedestrians being overlooked?

Michael Jackson and Prince were Madonna’s peers. If anyone can talk about them it’s her. They’re the Trinity of Pop. They were all even born during the same summer, all in the Midwest. MJ and Prince were addicts. Their self-destructive behavior is well documented. Sorry it hurts.

Police forces are not going after feral, mad, dangerous cyclists reports GMB.
**Contains footage of a woman being mowed down by one such cyclist that some viewers may find upsetting, and cyclists will love....

A really good video showing the standard behaviour of ebikers in particular. Yes regular cyclists can be bad but the e-bike culture is completely lawless and they are an aggressive, threatening presence in London. They must be either extremely heavily regulated or banned.

Six years ago, Yaxley Lennon harassed Byline writers Mike Stuchbery and Tim Fenton so badly that they eventually left the country. (He also promised to pay me a visit!)
Anyone condoning these kinds of tactics doesn't believe in a free press. It's a license for thuggery.

I understand the first fines were issued today on Oxford Street London for cyclists refusing to dismount.
Police hitting them with £160 charge.
Ouch!

I’m hoping the Oxford St situation might bring to a head the need to get a grip on London cyclist behaviour. Red light observance is about 25%. As a pedestrian, I am far more nervous crossing a cycle lane than a road.

Reform looking increasingly irrelevant at the moment.
There is evidence of dying social media engagement, too.
Things are recovering. But we must keep up the pressure.
🧵Am struck by how quickly the thermostatic flip in public opinion on tax and spending seems to have happened this Parliament. In 2024, Britons prioritised investing in public services over cutting tax (54% - 30%). Now, that’s flipped: 49% choose tax cuts, 36% public services

As I predicted, Reform couldn't professionalise, peaked too soon, and once it's polling 3rd for long enough, a lot of Conservative-Reform switchers are going to want to come back and back the stronger horse, leading to a death spiral for Reform.
