Honored the life & legacy of Tom Waters @slowboring, lost to COVID, by taking a walk while many others took walks to remember him yesterday. Can’t wait to be in a dark bar with weird music with the whole tenant movement someday to honor him.

.@NYGovCuomo our members are asking you to define "home" because 92K New Yorkers are homeless and you are demanding they #StayHome during #COVID19. You say: #PublicHealth before the #economy. Whose #health?
Why we yell and scream “HOUSING SAVES LIVES”
@NYGovCuomo & @NYCMayor’s policing of poor people and failure to deal with the homelessness crisis is the backdrop to this public health crisis. Act now, center the most vulnerable, or more will die.

Pied Piper's cast of Once Upon a Mattress doing a virtual run-through now, in celebration of what should have been our opening night!

Tonight would have been our opening night for Once Upon a Mattress. Very disappointed, but PPCT is confident that we will all get through this together, and we look forward to still performing the show for our fantastic WaHi/Inwood community in the near-future! Stay healthy!

Convince your state and local leaders that helping people keep their homes and not become homeless is an excellent use of this money. The scale is there
The bipartisan Senate #StimulusPackage contains a $150 billion #Coronavirus Relief Fund, which state, tribal, & local governments can use this year to meet costs connected to #COVID19.
How much does your state get? We got the numbers. cbpp.org/research/how-much-e…

.@NYGovCuomo Our members are worried about what will happen come April 1st when #Rent is due and there is no #PayCheck! Your silence on #RentRelief is making this difficult situation worse for millions of #NewYorkers!

"@NYgovCuomo could change the course of this crisis in an instant. There are more billionaires in this state than any other. Why aren't we taxing them for emergency housing and services? Cuomo is ignoring the homeless, he is no hero."

It is not safe for the RGB to hold public hearings during a pandemic. Stabilized tenants need a rent freeze in 2020!

What's the plan for homeless New Yorkers?
What's the plan for public housing residents?
What's the plan for tenants?

Great thread on poor use of research to inform policy by UK Nudge Unit.
Reminds me of weak research used to justify US welfare reform in the 1990s, when a lot of people really wanted to believe that "just get recipients *any* job" was the answer. 99percentinvisible.org/episo…

The goal of this intervention is to increase "off-flow". Basically to try to get people to stop claiming jobseekers benefit as quickly as possible.
(Note: they are not measuring transitions into work, just when people stop claiming the benefit...)

✅ $5B in CDBG, can be used for rental assistance

Another reason American federalism is bad is that it gives big responsibility to governments that lack the tools of monetary policy
So it begins. OH gov is calling for 20 percent across-the-board budget cuts due to anticipated revenue shortfalls and increased spending. cleveland.com/coronavirus/20…
