When it's time for South Sudan to review such a compact, I hope that our leaders will read it carefully and throw it out if necessary. #SSOX

Very well documented story. #SSOX
For more than a thousand years, my Dinka (Jieng) people of South Sudan and other semi-nomadic Nilotic pastoralists have moved with their cattle across the region's vast floodplains, a rhythm of life dictated by the seasonal rains and the rise and fall of the Toch Wetland (Sudd).
Cut off by distance, conflict, and geography from the rest of humanity, our cattle-centered way of life has remained largely unchanged for centuries.
Until now.
That isolation, long a source of protection from the outside world, is beginning to fade.
Having returned to film over the last 3-4 years, I can finally share this short film, which explores daily life at my Dinka Bor (Pathuyith) cattle camp. As the modern world edges closer and closer, a friend and I wanted to capture and document a way of life I experienced as a young boy. It is a dying culture suspended between ancient tradition and encroaching change.

I always wonder the following:
1. Did RoSS promise to pay for those fees?
2. Are there no other family members able to support?
3. If the answers to 1&2 are "No" then why would one go?

A student leader says more than 100 South Sudanese students studying on government scholarships in Ethiopia face possible expulsion over unpaid residence permit fees and other legal requirements. #SSOX #SouthSudan

Call and check on those you love.
When psychologist Gordon Flett was hospitalized with liver failure, a nurse sat with him for hours in the dark. She didn't just check on him. She talked to him, like he was a person and not just a patient in a bed.
That experience shaped Flett's research for years afterward. Now a psychologist at York University, he's spent his career studying what he calls mattering: the felt sense that you're noticed and significant to the people around you.
When that feeling is missing, Flett's research links it to depression and loneliness, and in extreme cases, to violence. Some researchers who study school shooters have found loneliness and alienation running through many of their histories, along with a grim pattern: when every ordinary path to feeling significant seemed closed off, a few chose infamy instead.
But the need to matter is universal, and meeting it doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes the simplest thing you can do for another person is let them know you see them.
#SSOX I'm grateful for technology and how it allows me to know what's going on here.
#SSOX One day SSD will be this fearless. But until then... 😔
Chaos in DRC as President Felix Tshisekedi and parliament are about to amend the constitution that would see the term limit removed.
The changes in the constitution would see Tshisekedi running for a third term in 2028. Constitutional court has already approved, and parliament is about to head for voting, but Congolese are rejecting the move.
Yeah...because where am I supposed to go and register to vote? And why don't we simply have an open and ongoing voter registration process?
South Sudan needs right and safe elections—not a rushed gamble without a constitution or voter registry. Dr. James Okuk breaks down what must happen before Dec 2026 #SouthSudan #SSOX eyeradio.org/article/south-s…
