ALBERTA BAIT AND SWITCH
Canada Associate Membership in the EU vetoed by France, Germany and Greece.
It’s just another bait and switch by Carney.
Don’t worry Canada can’t be an “Associate Member” but Alberta can still be flooded by unwanted 3rd World “Europeans” and Alberta can still be re-colonized by Europe and have resource development controlled by Brussels without a fancy title…
‼️‼️🚨🚨 🚨 MAJOR BREAKING IN BRUSSELS: EU slams the brakes on Canada’s "Associate Member" title just 48 hours before the Montreal summit! 🇨🇦🇪🇺
Germany, Italy, and Greece have officially blocked a joint summit statement over the phrase, while France remains deeply skeptical.
Here is what's actually happening behind closed doors:
❌ It’s legally nonexistent: The term "associate membership" is completely unmentioned and undefined anywhere in official EU treaties.
🛑 No consultation: EU member states were blindsided. Reports reveal European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen made the pitch without consulting member capitals first, sparking anger in Paris and Berlin over the "legal uncertainty."
📋 The Summit is changing track: EU ambassadors are scrambling today to strip the phrase from the communique. Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has downplayed the title, shifting focus to the actual substance of the talks.
The Bottom Line: What exactly was Canada being signed up for? Nobody can say—because even the EU can't define it yet.

Jan. 2025, Trudeau: not a "snowball's chance in hell" Canada becomes the 51st state.
But nearly two years later, per the PBO:
🇺🇸 U.S. growth in 2026: 2.2%
🇨🇦 Canada: 0.9%
110,000 jobs gone in August and September.
We don't need to join them. We just need to stop falling behind them. 🤦🏻♂️
Snowball's chance, eh? 🇨🇦

After her failure to hold Elections Alberta accountable to the law of the Alberta Elections act and to provide a system of equality before the law and transparency, will she do the honourable thing and resign? The travesty of this election looks at best equivalent to the corruption of Brazil’s recent election. It is embarrassing!

UCP President Rob Smith wrote to members asking for unity.
In the same letter, he calls independence supporters "they," says a leadership review is off the table, and points to the NDP to keep everyone in line.
Unity has to go both ways. A thread 🧵

My letter to Rob Smith of the @Alberta_UCP
Dear Mr. Rob Smith,
In response to your letter to the UCP membership, I wish to humbly offer the following statement:
You cannot hijack a citizen initiative referendum, use its questionable data to consolidate power, tell your members to get in line or find another party, advance the Covid vaccine and expect unity.
Unity is based on a common vision that is larger than the party or the leader of the party.
The UCP once had a vision of a Sovereign Alberta that I could get behind. Now that the goal posts have been moved to “a stronger Alberta in a united Canada, it seems that the vision of the party has been reduced to “just beat the NDP.” That’s not leadership—that’s insecurity.
Rob, I believe in a vision of a Sovereign Alberta, where we develop our people, our resources and infrastructure outside of Ottawa’s chokehold.
If that cannot be achieved by the UCP, then Alberta Independence becomes the only way forward.
The UCP has lost the vision of a Sovereign Alberta and is forced to align itself with a federal vision of joining the EU, resulting in the restrictions of our resources and out-of-control immigration.
I can also foresee carbon taxes on Alberta’s resources, making our products too expensive to export, followed by mass layoffs.
This is Alberta’s future under both UCP and NDP.
May the Lord grant us Divine foresight, wisdom and intervention to save our beautiful and beloved province.
Respectfully,
John F. Huizing

What a great letter John.
It’s so sad that Rob Smith and more importantly Danielle Smith simply don’t care about anything other than clinging to power.

🇺🇸🇨🇦 The EU has dropped the “associate member” idea for Canada, replacing it with vague language about “ever closer association,” whatever that means.
Carney’s proposal was never a serious alternative. It was a distraction amid a U.S. trade war that Ottawa has no visible means of winning wherever Canada could try to sell their goods.
The United States remains Canada’s dominant trading partner by a wide margin, roughly 70% of Canadian exports still go south, while the EU accounts for only about 5%. Even preferential access to Europe’s market cannot replace the U.S. Geography, logistics, and capacity make it impractical: trucking across a shared border is faster and cheaper than ocean freight for most goods, European regulatory barriers remain very high, and Canadian exporters lack the infrastructure to reroute large volumes of energy, autos, and commodities across the Atlantic at a competitive cost.
Any further move Canada makes to distance itself from its largest customer will determine how much worse its economy becomes. Press releases and summit statements change nothing about the underlying dependence. Canada is far better off paying tariffs to the U.S. for access to its market. Europe in addition to being a high tax and regulatory compliance state also are protectionist towards their industries. Canada’s trade profile to Europe will remain as a supplier of raw materials, not finished goods.
🚨 BREAKING: EU countries have dropped the idea of offering Canada "associate member" status in the 27-member bloc, opting instead for softer language promising "ever closer association," according to a draft statement, seen by POLITICO.
