As if it isn’t incredibly well-known and well-documented that 80-90% of familicide is committed by men, and 80+% of successful NGRIs for murder involve male perpetrators. There was a pretty comprehensive study on filicide released earlier this year tracking cases from 1999 to 2023, and - surprise to no one - fathers kill their kids just as often if not more often than mothers do. Even when you break it down by the age of children, women only commit the majority of neonaticide, which has the lowest overall incidence rate. The fact that men even commit 25% of these types of murders is shocking considering the lower incidence of men being around children of this age. And that is pretty much spot on reflected in real world cases since January 2026. There have been at least 10 mass family annihilation events in the US this year alone, 8 of which were perpetrated by fathers. There have been about 20 total filicide cases since January, and it’s sliced a clean 50-50. Less than two weeks ago a man in Michigan killed his wife and six kids. Did you post about it? No? Why? Probably because everyone knows violent crime perpetrated by men is so common it’s both uninteresting and unsurprising. It’s fundamentally Dog Bites Man. Treating female criminals with higher scrutiny and disdain quite literally proves that point, by the way. The call is coming from inside the house.
