Really, you have the "right" and the ability to revolt for any reason.
And the powers that be and/or other people have the "right" to resist you in this action.
The outcome will depend on the strength of your cause and the skill of your actions.
The 2nd, among the other rights, is not just designed to FACILITATE armed defense against the state, but also to allow the people to defend against what they would consider illegitimate grabs for power.
It is looked at too often in a binary. Either against the government or an invading outside power. Yet also includes the average person being able to take on someone... trying to take on the government.
Who will be "right" in this situation will be a forever-moving target, but everyone, down to the common man, gets a fighting chance at least.
Instead of other states, where it is whoever forms an illegal armed gang/takes control of the military is who by default holds the keys.
I know this isn't really a brief that should be taken seriously, but I do want to address this criticism because it's one I see a lot, i.e. "oh you think you can just shoot the government because you don't like them?!"
No, and that's not what the Founders would support either. Remember, the Declaration of Independence lays out a long list of grievances, which they tried to address peaceably before finally and as a last resort taking up arms against the Crown.
The Second Amendment is not some right to violent revolt because you don't like that Newsom passed another gas tax. You need both to exhaust the other "boxes" before the cartridge box, and you also need a critical mass of people agreeing with you or your "appeal to heaven" will lack any popular legitimacy and quickly fail.
Also, it's a *defensive* right as well. You may have no intention of taking the fight to tyranny, tyranny may bring the fight to you. And in that scenario, it's just basic self-defense.
