90,000 homes in Scotland and the north of England remain without power after flooding and high winds caused by Storm Boelo.
Clean up efforts have been hampered by strong winds which have continued to gust up to 85 miles an hour. Some schools in Scotland will stay closed today because they don't have heating or water. The Met Office has issued another yellow warning for wind on Tuesday for much of Scotland and other northern areas.

In 1774, a Scottish mountain was used to weigh the entire planet. And pretty much as a by-product, the people doing it helped invent something you'll find on every single walking map you've ever owned.
This is the story of the ‘fairy hill of the Caledonians’: Schiehallion.

Marine scientists have warned for a long time about this.
Will the warnings about other tipping points also be mostly ignored?
Or will the world start to prioritise stopping global warming?
We can do it, but time is running.

Kind of crazy that our miraculous planet, one modulated by the very flow of carbon between different reservoirs (the mantle, atmosphere, oceans, life, and the crust) is currently undergoing one of the most profound derangements of its carbon cycle in hundreds of millions of years

Can we tell how climate changes based on microscopic marks on fossil teeth? And can we know how that changes affected the diet of animals millions of years ago?
Let's find out by looking at a Miocene squirrel
