30 years ago today, L Goldman & I coined the term "hospitalist" in @NEJM. I suspected the field would matter; I didn't guess it would be the fastest-growing specialty in US history. To the docs who turned an idea into something real–& now essential–thanks!

Deeply appreciated my discussion with Patrick Kennedy, former US Congressman and compelling champion for lifting the stigma on #mentalhealth. I respect his courage in speaking up about his own challenges with mental health, and the work he is doing to help others.
We discussed the progress made in addressing the view and stigma of people living with a mental health condition, and the need to scale up efforts to support those in need, and continue raising awareness for communities.
