Okay, authoritative answer on this one. Online ads have a "real time auction" system when there is an available slot And part of that auction is the profile lookup, which include IP address based option (usually fallback). I thought this was common knowledge.

We finally have an explanation for “Facebook is listening to me through my phone”. They’d never do that (and it’s not really possible). Turns out literally everyone else was — and then selling that to ad data brokers.

That is why when people say "Google sells your data", or "Facebook listens to you" I am only amused by the assertions They are close to truth though. They **buy** your data for real time display ad placement. And your cell phone / TV / refrigerator is selling it.

The source was wrong. The STUDIOS budget for ALL GAMES was 400-500m. Any journalist using a leaked number is conflating the entire studios budget with E-Day. The budget includes the remaster and support of other titles, like Avowed on Unreal Engine.

The reason is simple They are all highly leveraged, around half a trillion in total. And not all of them will survive, some will, like Amazon did after dot-com boom/burst cycle. But who remembers pets.com? etoys.com? excite search engine?

Why? Because depending on the location of the user and amount of information sold, it could easily be $10 to $100 per device per year. For a 5 year device age, it would be $50 to $500 they want to "exploit"
