Fear turns men into sheep, nations into colonies, and citizens into slaves.

Weird how the libs are trying to “figure out” Trump’s master plan. Like there’s more to the guy than what you see. When really he’s just what he says he is, a guy who thinks trade deficits mean we’re getting ripped off. Libs are too used to arcane obscure bureaucratic leaders speaking in coded language, that has to be deciphered by professional tea leaf readers. There are no tea leaves here!

.@DOGE could use budget per capita to find waste (divide an agency's annual budget by its headcount) The highest budget per capita is the Office of Personnel Management ($113M/employee). Not surprisingly it spends ludicrous amounts on bloated contracts –  like $414M just on credit monitoring software [1] Among the lowest budget per capita is the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Its 2850 employees oversee our nuclear plants...of which we have only 54. [1] usaspending.gov/award/CONT_A…

Here's a sheet with the data and sources: docs.google.com/spreadsheets… There are also tabs on percentage of telework at each agency, salary levels, and types of occupation.

What conservatives stand for is just less actionable. How do you conserve? So much harder than to change. Left points out problems that actually exist. Right has no solution to it. Left has a crazy solution. So without a better idea, we go with what the Left wants.

America has always been based on a dream. A story that we believe about ourselves. It was in the 1970s that that dream was hijacked, and became a nightmare. Vietnam. Nixon. Not a coincidence, this was the same time we got fiat money. After came the rise of finance. The craziness of easy money. Stagnating wages for regular Americans, and booming incomes for the top slices. Maybe it wasn’t the cowboys who beat the commies, but the money men. And now we are the ones in their debt. We’ve lost what made us great. That wasn’t a color but a creed. One that all of us believed. Not just those duped into it by politicians they see once every 4 years, or marketing wizards in faraway conference rooms selling them shit they don’t really need.

We watched Thirteen Days the other night, and then last night a few episodes of the West Wing. It reminded me how different America was just not too long ago. Sure, in the 90s, they didn’t have the fortitude of previous generations, who had fought real wars and faced real challenges. But that generation still remembered what their fathers taught them, and the newer generation could coast by following a system that was set up to work. But over time, the same things that corrupt a successful man corrupt a successful nation. In fact, with the man it is not a guarantee that he will be corrupted, because he is the same man and he himself remembers the past when he was not successful. For a nation this is not the case. New generations only hear stories from the past, they do not remember. And so the temptations that come from success – ego and complacency – start to play out right when a nation is at its peak. The more successful a nation is, the less it needs to contend with reality. Or so it thinks. It believes it is infinitely powerful, infinitely rich, infinitely smart. It can defeat any foe, solve any problem, create any future. But what it can never conquer is the hard truths of reality. For a while, it can bend others with its fantasy that things can last forever, but in the long run it cannot bend reality to its will. In the end, reality bites back. It always does. It bites back through the hard facts of debt and blood. Successful nations spend like the money flow will never stop, and in the end they end up like so many others who live outside their means. They have to lie, cheat, steal, or borrow to survive. Right now America is doing a little of all of that, but mostly it is borrowing. And there are only a few ways to pay back what you owe – you make a lot more money in the future, you create fake money to pay it back with, or you default on the debt. But the real issue is not the money or the bullets. There are always money problems. There are always enemies. The real problem is in the people. In what their collective ego, their complacency, does to them. It turns them into children, who believe they can live in Neverland and never have to grow up, never have to accept reality. Like children, they believe they are special, “exceptional”, and that the same rules don’t apply. Blinded by their success, they ignore problems, and like children, they twist these problems into positives. Problems with birthrates – both too low a birthrate, and having more children out of wedlock – are turned into positive signs that women are free of the shackles of the draconian institution of marriage. Problems with consumption – eating bad food, using too many substances, choosing what goes in the body out of pleasure not health – becomes another story of freedom, freedom to explore, to be a psychonaut, to get rid of the silly superstitions of the past. It is the past that is made into an enemy, that has to be made into an enemy, to justify all the whims of the present. Because in the past, when things were hard, the nation still accepted reality and the discipline that it imposed. But now the nation wants to be a forever child, a Peter Pan, and all these national indulgences – free money, free sex, free drugs – are the walls that keep pesky reality from creeping in. They are like the third generation of a robber baron’s descendants, just enough money to keep going and live in pretend, not enough sense to realize eventually it will end. America still lives in a pretend fantasy. Our politicians beat their chests and proclaim “we are the most powerful country in the history of the world”, “this is America", “surely we can do better”, “we must do better”. We can fund Ukraine forever. We can change people’s gender. We can do anything we want, at anytime, with no consequences. The only thing standing between us and the Obvious Right Thing to Do is will. Not reality. We solved that a long time ago. We are the octogenerian believing he has the youth and energy of an adolescent, overconfident and cocksure, just as age and health and money catch up to him. How do we solve this? Either we wake ourselves up, or reality will. And as we retreat further into our fantasy worlds of social media and echo chambers and performative politics, we get further and further from waking up. In many ways, we are the addict in need of another hit – another hit of debt, another hit of war, another hit of handouts and bailouts and payouts, but mostly another hit of the fantasy, another TikTok video telling us how we’re right, another moment of outrage at the “other side”. There is no other side. There is only us, delusional about how we are doing, with the classic addict response that “we’re ok, it’s them who are not”. The Right is lost in fairy tales about the past, and the Left is lost in fantasies about the future. MAGA boomers didn’t earn what they enjoyed, they were handed it by the previous generation that endured the hungers and fought the wars. And millenial and GenZ woke artists have no idea what reality is really like. They only know life inside the air bubble of their protective institutions. Who among us is accepting reality?

How the next President can save free speech on campus Everyone knows free speech is dying at universities. Professors and students who speak their mind are silenced, while woke mobs are allowed to run amok. This is not good for the country. How do we fix it? Here's one idea: Make academic free speech a requirement for universities to receive federal student aid. Federal student aid accounts for almost a quarter of total university budgets [1]. This means universities need taxpayer money to survive. It's a huge leverage point that we have on universities that is going under-utilized. Here's how the next President can utilize it. In order to be able to receive federal money, a university needs to be accredited. The Department of Education sets rules for accreditation that accrediting agencies need to follow [2]. Under the next President, the DoE could make free speech a requirement for accreditation. This would force universities to protect free speech on campus, or else risk losing their access to the federal money. Once it affects their money, how quickly do you think universities would change their tune? [1] www2.ed.gov/about/overview/b…, nces.ed.gov/fastfacts/displa… [2] ecfr.gov/current/title-34/su…

LOSING THE MANDATE OF HEAVEN Let’s be real: US political leaders since the Gulf War are perhaps the worst leaders in the history of the world. In 1991, they inherited a hyperpower that wins everywhere without fighting. But by 2021 they produced a declining power that fights everywhere without winning. It’s thirty years of unmitigated domestic and international failure, from San Francisco to Syria, from financial crisis to coronavirus. With every inherited advantage, US leaders nevertheless produced historical collapses in life expectancy[1] and manufacturing capacity[2], in patriotic loyalty and involvement in community[3]. They also delivered concomitant rises in drug overdoses[4], out-of-wedlock births[5], and homeless encampments[6]. And no, they have no historical, philosophical, or literary depth. The historical analogies begin and end with 1939. The philosophy is little more than constant accusations of racism. And the reading level of US presidential speeches has measurably[7] dropped like a rock, to idiocratically elementary levels. The only thing the establishment *has* delivered on is their own bottom line. Think about Pelosi’s stocks[8], BLM’s mansions[9], Obama’s book deals, and 10% for the big guy. The corruption is now flagrant and public. As others have observed, we’re in the looting-the-treasury phase of imperial collapse, as the national debt soars past $33T with literally no limit in sight. STUPID, OR EVIL? And that's what leads to the "conspiracy theories." Are US leaders stupid, or evil? Did they unintentionally ruin what was once the greatest country on earth, or was it intentional and done for their own gain? The conspiracy theories are a way for mere proles to make sense of the senseless. They aren't all wrong, mind you — WMD was fake, the AAA mortgage-backed securities were fake, Russiagate was fake, and so on. Evil was involved in intentionally faking these stories. But ultimately, thinking of US leadership as evil gives them too much credit. It's just hard to remain global #1. The nature of entropy means there are countless ways for the world order to shatter, and only a few ways to keep it intact. Maybe George Washington could find one of those ways, but we have Joe Biden. And that's why DC is losing the Mandate of Heaven[10]. Part of the tech-bro to conspiracy-bro pipeline is the phenomenon of men who spent their formative years ignoring and disdaining anything but coding, gaming or tech now noticing politics and global affairs for the first time and refusing to believe this is how the world works.

I remember this moment
On February 6, 2016 at the GOP Debate, Dr. Ben Carson didn’t hear when NBC called his name, and he stood by himself. When Trump name was called, instead of walking to The Debate Stage like other candidates, he stayed with Dr. Carson until they called his name again.
